There is no such thing geographically. Geysers and southern marshes in the immediate vicinity.
Musically, that's not a problem, because Bihlman Bros. can do something like that. The brothers Scot Little and Jabo have been washed in all Mississippi waters, although they live in Los Angeles.
They've already made an excellent name as studio musicians, if they've worked with artists like Buddy Guy, BB King, ZZ Top, Ray Charles, Jonny Lang, Pat Travers, Koko Taylor or Kenny Wayne Shepherd I have to.
The brothers already have an Emmy on the shelf and Son Seals had the two brothers on their album "Lettin 'Go" along with Trey Anastasio (Phish) for the number "Funky Bitch". They also worked
with producer Jim Gaines.
With "What U Want", the Bihlmans are already planting their fourth album in the gears of blues rock and their six-cylinder runs smoothly in every pot.
What the two of them have to offer covers the entire cotton field and, dammit, their 12-stroke engine is exactly what hardly leaves me sitting.
When the record opens with a song titled "I Wanna Fly," the listener can run their fingers through the seat belts. All an unsuccessful venture. The Bihlman Bros. already bagged them. Well, this is already the first direct hit to the heart of blues rock. A brief introduction to Dobro is enough. The singing is already convincing. The listener is rock-dominated with fat riffs and then a slide solo is performed on gigantic grand pianos. Then the band surprises with an airy and quieter change of pace. Upon landing, the dust is lifted from the asphalt and you can find me under the dash... "Sir, I want to fly."
Jamaica is not necessarily associated with the blues. Yes, with reggae and exactly that rhythm is a small part of “Believe”. The American band, playing in the classic trio with Charlie Short on bass, manages to unite worlds... at least musically.
As you might imagine Bihlmans ballad is shown to some extent in "Jubilee" because the song is permeated by higher passages. The electric guitar solo is amazing. It's just brilliant how going it alone in quiet climates picks up speed. Pure feeling! Also, powered by the wah wah pedal.
Blues Rock quality is offered here at the highest level and is almost like looking for a needle in a haystack. With "What U Want" you found what you were looking for.
The year 2010 has barely started and there is already a clear focus... “Come and join the jubilee”.
My God. Now something like that too.
Groove, groove and groove again. Sliding guitar and again those irresistible melodies. What are they doing with the phone? Where should this end? The title song lets goosebumps grow to an intermediate range. Even a steady electric guitar solo becomes a pleasure, even if it's just as a bass guitar.
An entire portion of Southern Rock is implanted in "Better Place".
Three more Bihlmans are active on backing vocals, and "Angel's Wings" is the album's definitive ballad. Here, too, they have a very special kind of emotional flight: Gary Worden
appears in the line-up. He plays the accordion. Another delicacy? After that break, the trio overloads Southern Rock's turbines with "Needles & Thread" and great backing vocals.
"Butterfly" encourages you to dream all the time.
You cannot hear a drum set. Instead, there are fine drums and again wonderful singing, which really stand out in this silent number.
What the Bihlman Bros. offers by the end of the CD doubles the laws of gravity, because we are dealing with realistic music.
I particularly like the rudimentary instrumented "Shotgun" with a lot of live studio atmosphere.
A trademark of the group emerged: set-piece ballads half ballads... "Broken Wings".
Without a crowbar, The Bihlman Bros. entered the non-existent blues rock genre of 2010 with "What U Want". All attention! Guys, get on a plane and come.
