Greg Sover - His-Story (2023)

                                                                       Greg Sover
Greg Sover brings two Jimi Hendrix songs from the legendary Are you Experienced album with former Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys bassist Billy Cox on this album. Manic depressions and Remember, a song that was surprisingly only available in the USA on the international version of the album Are you experienced.

“It's all about crossing these boundaries and bringing everyone together, regardless of your race, religion or nationality. As for me, I've been through it all… it's too late to stop now. Just go for it. The show must go on." said Greg Soever

While Greg Sover's friends in his Philadelphia neighborhood where he grew up listened to local rappers, he became immersed in classic rock, country and blues, picking up a guitar for the first time at the age of five.

“From the start, it was the greats that intrigued me,” says Sover, while he includes Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman, Dwight Yoakam guitarist Pete Anderson and, of course, all three Kings – B.B. , Freddie and Albert as early influences. “Hearing those first few notes of ‘Purple Haze’ changed my life.”

Greg Sover's musical career has come full circle on his fourth album “HIS-STORY”, which will be released on July 21, 2023 through his own Grounded Soul Records label. He is joined by the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsies bassist Billy Cox, on two songs “Manic Depression” and “Remember”, originally recorded for the international version of Jimi's first album, “Are You Experienced”.

Raphael Wressnig - Party Factor (2010)

                                                                Raphael Wressnig
Organist Raphael Wressnig (hailing from Graz, Austria) has put together a six-CD discography unknown to the American jazz audience, but with Party Factor, he's finally broken out to a larger clientele on his seventh effort. This danceable soul-jazz is funky as can be, accented by a horn section, and focuses on music best heard in the rave-up club scene. It's a consistent mix of beat-oriented music driven by the thick lines of Wressnig, but the horn section is potent and commanding. They work primarily in tandem, but the saxes (featuring Americans Craig Handy and Sax Beadle) draw most of the attention. Wressnig produces typical themes based in straight-laced boogaloo, as heard during themes with predictable fatback titles such as "Chunky Thighs" and "Dirty Dawg," no-nonsense songs that would make you think he hails from Newark, NJ, Philadelphia, or Motown-influenced Detroit. During the fastest funk of "Afterparty at the Zoo," the organist and his horn-fired band go into a burning, fever pitch of pure instrumental rhythm & blues. There's some light calypso, a flute-based samba, berimbau-tinged reggae, and more jazz-oriented swing, but only in limited quantities. Raphael Wressnig is throwing down for the youth market, although his next project might be purely jazz-oriented, but for now he sticks to an accessible format of blue beats buoying fully formed contemporary instrumental music.

Jan Spálený - Asi v tom bude nějakej háček (1985)

                                                                   Jan Spálený
Jan Spálený - I think there will be a legendary hook / album in LP and CD form, audio congratulations to the eighties
Jan Spálený recorded and continues to record beautiful music, but this album is something unique in his discography. Conducted as his solos, that is, without ASPM, played by great studio musicians. In addition to the omnipotent Spálený as singer and instrument, there is Petr Kalandra (accordion, vocals), Michal Pavlícek (guitar), Jirí Veselý (bass, accordion) and Jirí Hrubeš (drums, percussion). With a "warning" not to use synthesizers, it's a pure joy to hear a full repertoire of excellent musicians and a unique voice. This time, just two cover versions, the rest from the abundant JS source, with lyrics by Pavel Vrba, Petr Kalandra, Zdenek Rytír and the composer himself. It is slightly saddened by the course of life, sweetly ironic, apparently sung with dedication, but at the same time full of hidden energy, a unique and believable feeling in each note and word. It was dawn in the mid-80s, and this is an album that usefully reminds us of that time. New remaster, pressing on 180 gram heavyweight vinyl. The cover was reconstructed by the original creators - graphic artist Karel Haloun and photographer Jaroslav Prokop - for the first time in the form it was supposed to be in 1985. Namely, with a photo of émigré drummer Hrubeš, a comrade who was initially denied.

Joe Zook & Blues Deluxe - Good Mornin' Blues (2019)

                                                                        Joe Zook
I got dem ole’ Trenton, New Jersey blues again mama! I finally get to cover a blues a band from my home town. Joe Zook(Joe Zuccarello) & Blues Deluxe have been a mainstay of the East Coast blues scene for decades and with the strong musicality of this release it is no wonder. A few years back I got the chance to see them open the Saturday show of The Riverfront Blues Festival in Wilmington, Delaware. They are just as solid here as they were live. Joe leads the pack with his authentic blues guitar and husky vocals, as well as writing eight of the ten songs. Every musician here is top rate. The rhythm section of drummer Jeff Snelson and bass player Bill Holt create a full bottom. Bill’s bass is more upfront than usual for a blues band. Just under the surface his meandering bass lines add to the groove. Jeff provides a full sound on his drums. James Cheadle’s piano playing harkens back to some of the greats of the blues. John Sopko is certainly no slouch as he contributes jazzy Hammond B3 organ on three tracks. Tony Buford adds his harmonica to great affect on three tracks as well.

Did I mention the horn section? Great Googily-Moogily these guys are tighter than a bull’s…um…part that he sits on. Angelo DiBraccio on alto sax, Steve Kaplan on tenor and baritone saxes and Danny Tobias on trumpet are a powerhouse as they play in unison to drive the songs along. Their solos are well crafted works of art. Danny is a local gift to jazz trumpet. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing is spot on playing numerous times at The 1867 Sanctuary concert series in Ewing Township. I’m not previously familiar with the two other guys, but all three are superb.

“Good Mornin’ Blues” is kicked off with a blazing guitar run to get this chugging number going. The lyrics are an amalgamation of standard blues lines(‘whiskey & wimmin’, ‘blues fall down like rain’) and more modern references(‘ET’ or acid rain). It all works just fine. Joe adds slide guitar over his regular part towards the end of the song and James Cheadle works his magic on the “eighty-eights”. Tony flavors it up with his harmonica skills. A walking bass line underpins the horn fired “I Love My Baby”.

For my money Joe delivers his tastiest guitar on “Wait And See” as he ponders what happens when he makes a full go round (deadsville). Great horns, piano and organ here as well. Jump blues guitar and the horn section in its’ finest moment as Bill Holt contributes his powerful vocal on this strong rendition of Louis Jordan’s classic “Caldonia”. The members of the horn section along with guitar, harmonica and organ all take solos. The slow paced “Where Did It Go” is about fleeting nature of time. Nice trumpet solo on this one.

Band members chime in on vocals behind Joe on “It Ain’t What You Do”, a lesson in humanity featuring some nifty slide work. The tenuous world situation is the subject of “On My Mind” as North Korea, Russia, Mexico and the old U.S.A. are pondered. Big Franky adds his mandolin and Joe provides electric guitar and acoustic slide. Bill Holt returns for his second vocal spot on the Don Nix composition “Same Old Blues”, a song done by Freddie King and Gatemouth Brown among others. A funky Doobie Brothers like guitar intro starts off the equally funky “I Got Nothin’ To Say” that features the inimitable James Cheadle on jazzy electric piano to end the proceedings.

From the clean production by Ernie White and Joe Zook to the fine musicianship and vocalists it’s all here ladies and gentlemen. Home town boys that keep on keepin’ on. Slap some Trenton pork roll on the grill and give this puppy a spin!

Michael Lee Smith - One Night Only (2023)

                                                               Michael Lee Smith
As the heavy wooden door creaked open, a gust of wind swept through, carrying with it the scent of aged leather and a faint hint of cigarette smoke. The atmosphere inside the bar was thick, filled with a dimly lit ambiance that seemed to have settled over the years. The sound of distant chatter and clinking glasses permeated the air.

Stepping inside, the visitor's eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness, revealing a space frozen in time. The bar's worn wooden counter, etched with countless marks and memories, stretched out along the left side. Time-worn bar stools stood guard, their red cushions cracked and faded.

A solitary figure in the back corner caught the newcomer's attention. Bathed in a soft glow cast by a flickering overhead light, a man sat on a small stage, his hunched form enveloped by the shadows. Strands of silver hair framed his weathered face, telling tales of a life fully lived.

With calloused fingers, the man played a guitar, each note resonating through the room like a whispered secret. His eyes were closed, lost in the music he was weaving, his playing raw and soulful. The music hung in the air, painting stories of heartache, longing, and forgotten dreams.

The bar patrons, captivated by the man's performance, leaned in closer, their eyes transfixed on the stage. Some wore expressions of nostalgia, while others seemed transported to distant memories. The strains of the guitar intertwined with the murmurs of conversation, creating a harmony that seemed to echo through the years.

The visitor, drawn by the allure of the music, made their way toward the corner. As they approached, the man's eyes slowly opened, revealing a glimmer of wisdom and melancholy. He acknowledged the newcomer with a slight nod and a smile that carried the weight of countless stories.

In that timeless moment, the connection between the stranger and the musician was palpable. The music filled the empty spaces within their souls, transcending time and circumstance. They shared a mutual understanding—an unspoken acknowledgment of the power of music to heal and bridge the gaps between strangers.

And so, the scene unfolded, a testament to the enduring beauty of the human spirit found within the walls of an old, dark bar—a place where the sorrows of the world were momentarily suspended, and the magic of music reigned supreme.

Danny Kalb & Friends - Moving In Blue (2012)

                                                                        Danny Kalb
Renowned blues guitarist Danny Kalb not only has a new album, but it s a double album in which he gets to explore the many sides and facets of the blues. A founding member of Blues Project in 1965 (which also included future Blood Sweat and Tears members Al Kooper and Steve Katz), Kalb is a fine guitarist with a deep understanding of the blues. This mighty collection kicks off with his own composition Feel Just Like Goin Hom,e a somewhat generic up-tempo blues rocker. It reveals Kalb s capable voice and workmanlike skills on the guitar, but it s the next song where the magic starts. Death Comes Creeping far better suits Kalb s gritty voice, and his hypnotic droning finger picking seems to be more his strong suit. This down-home riverside blues is pure pleasure and downright eerie when he sings God told Nicodemus, You must be born again. Other traditional covers include haunting acoustic rides through Got My Mojo Working, Can t Be Satisfied and In My Time Of Dying. Then he goes in a slightly different direction with Black Coffee, lush and luxurious in a T Bone Walker way. Kalb also offers a distinctly Chicago take on Big Joe Williams Baby Please Don t Go and John Lee Hooker s Louise. Dylan s It Takes a Lot To Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry and Make You Feel My Love are given good updates, while Hank Williams (I Heard That) Lonesome Whistle shows that early country wasn t far away from old blues. Originals like Waitress At the Troubadour, Feel Just Like Goin Home and Mournin At Midday are well-done, but the absolute highlight might be his stunning rendition of Son House s Death Letter Blues. It s dark, darker than black. This could actually be broken down into two records: An electric one and an acoustic based one. Released in this manner, however, the double CD album offers variety and diversity, showing the many ways you can use three chords and the truth and Kalb s singular, masterful take on it.  Rick Simcox, a native Detroiter, moved to Chicago in 1997 where the Blues immersion would take its hold. In 2005, he formed the basic Rick Simcox & The ToneQuesters unit and would later recruit many of Chicago's notable Blues personnel. In 2009, Rick's independent CD release of Treat You Baby [RSTQ 20091 co-produced with Dave Specter] touted a variety of Blues styles through both studio and live performances. CHICAGO BLUES GUIDE called Rick Simcox "a talented new face on the Blues scene....the [CD] songs are upbeat, moody, gritty..........That's the blues!".

Lightnin' Willie and the Poorboys - Buy American (2000)

                                                                       Lightnin' Willie
Lightnin' Willie is a veteran bluesman with in excess of twenty years of touring experience. Originally from Dallas Texas he now resides in the Los Angeles area. Willie plays in a traditional blues format with traditional instrumentation i.e. guitar, keyboards, accordion, bass, drums, and horns. He plays on a regular basis in the Los Angeles area with Grammy award winning producer/guitarist Pete Anderson who incidentally produced his new album NO BLACK NO WHITE JUST BLUES  on Little Dog Records which is receiving incredibly consistent reviews and airplay worldwide.  " It features ten clever and powerful self-penned compositions that explore the haunting expressions of human feelings that inhabit the blues alongside a fair share of wit. He writes  songs in a concisely crisp manner. He sings with rich, full-bodied character, while playing guitar with sizable skill "- VIVASCENE.   " The great grooves, understated guitar, vocals, and lyrics fit perfectly in the genre without seeming old and tired make for one of the best listens of 2017 "- VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE/DECEMBER 2017.   "  In a world of guitar slingers, Los Angeles-based bluesman is a rare find. His guitar, a 1950 Gibson ES-5N has a rich, deep tone and Willie's tasteful style create a sound that's light years away from the howling Fender Stratocasters that populate so many modern blues recordings. His understated dexterity on guitar and cool, relaxed vocals form a unique style that's simultaneously laid back and steeped in tradition. " -  ELMORE MAGAZINE 2017.

" One of the best contemporary Blues songwriters & performers today "- PETE ANDERSON/GRAMMY MULTI AWARD WINNING PRODUCER.

" He isn't a simple minded dance band leader.  He developed his deceptively simple, boundless appealing style over a lifetime of propinquitous         musical experience..." - JONNY WHITESIDE.

" What he doesn't know about putting on a good show isn't worth knowing..."- MICHAEL MEES/BLUES IN BRITAIN.

Lightnin' Willie has a distinctive approach to his music. He is a songwriter, singer and guitarist in that order. The sound is an irresistible blend of tradition and spontaneous creativity, with a deliciously insidious emphasis on the groove. It is a compelling, hard swinging brand of blues that, whenever he performs,  packs the floor--his audience can't not dance. He has gone from the low down beer joints to become a staple on the international circuit here and abroad, with wild stops along the the way, from London's Royal Albert Hall Igniter Series to Willie Nelson's infamous 4th of July Picnic, where he appeared along side Paula Nelson, Willie, Bob Dylan, Leon Russell. Touring the United States and Europe for over twenty years has given him the relaxed, confident and sometimes humorous quality of a seasoned performer.  These attributes have won him stacks of enthusiastic praise from the press while landing his original tunes on numerous film and television soundtracks.  Lightnin' Willie has the unique knack of bringing his audience into his 'living room' and making everyone comfortable while forgetting their problems for a couple of hours.  At a recent show with legendary blues man Robert Cray they played to a packed house receiving a well deserved standing ovation. 2018 will find Willie on tour supporting his latest album No Black No White Just Blues both here in the U.S and a fall tour of Europe.

Hackensack - The Final Shunt (2017)

                                                                     Hackensack
Hackensack first formed in 1969 and its origins are unclear, but by '71, founding member Nicky Moore felt he had the right band together and began touring extensively. By 1972 they were playing over 250 shows a year non-stop in the UK and Europe. That same year, Island released their first and only non-album single, Moving On / River Boat. The single was produced by Muff Winwood, Steve's older brother (both former members of the Spencer Davis Group), who later produced Dire Straits' debut ('78) and Sparks' early hits. He also worked as an A&R for Island. Hackensack also supported labelmates Mott The Hoople on their Rock 'n' Roll Circus tour a few months earlier.

Polydor finally released their first and only album in 1974: Up The Hardway. The disc is a mixture of direct heavy boogie and ballads with quality vocals and guitars. The line-up included Nicky Moore (vocals, guitar, electric piano), Ray Smith (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Martinez (bass) and Simon Fox (drums, percussion). Smith soon became better known as the Ray Majors, changing his name to avoid confusion with the guitarist of another Island band, Albert Lee's Heads, Hands & Feet. The first CD of the album, supposedly released under license, was released by the French company Red Fox Records in 2002.

Hackensack existed from 1968 to 1974 and disbanded after the album's release. They have built a good reputation for themselves as a hardworking, blues rock quartet. Your first album may well decorate any collection today.
Moore went on to play in Tiger, Samson and Mammoth, drummer Simon Fox moved to Be Bop Deluxe and guitarist Ray Smith to The British Lions.

Vocalist Nicky Moore reunited with bassist Stu Mills to re-record the demo songs as they intended them to sound, along with drummer Ed Collins and Nicky's son Timmy on guitar (no hint of nepotism here – check out his fluid solo).

Free and Zeppelin influences are noticeable in the slinky swing of Tomorrow and Black Witch Woman, but Hackensack has always been heavier in the riff department, Rock And Roll Woman and River Boat sounding Mountain-ous. His Movin' On adds an added vocal hook, and Moore is still able to oscillate between a smokier Paul Rodgers-type tone and a strong belt, his a cappella Boneman a true showstopper. If, as the title suggests, this is goodbye, they're leaving on a high note.

This album was first recorded in 1973 live at Clifton College, Nottingham and re-recorded for the 2017 Audio Archives re-release for the band's reunion.

The Nick Moss Band - Get Your Back Into It! (feat. Dennis Gruenling) (2023)

                                                                      Nick Moss
Nick is a fiery, deeply rooted Chicago blues guitarist and a gifted singer and songwriter. He was mentored by and played with blues giants Jimmy Rogers, Jimmy Dawkins and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith. He’s led his own band since 1997, cutting a dozen albums. Dennis, one of world’s best harp players, joined forces with Nick in 2016, Together they create fresh songs in the Chicago tradition.

Modern day Chicago blues warriors present 14 original songs inspired by the electrifying blues sounds of 1940s through 1960s, and performed with taste, sly humor and pure joy. From locomotive shuffles to deep, slow blues, Moss shines with a Willie Dixon-like ability to write and sing the blues’ honest truth. “An incendiary brew...fiery fretwork and wailing harmonica...soulful, playful and exuberant.” —Living Blues.

Tony Torres - A Real Gone Time (2016) reposted

                                                                     Tony Torres
Guitar Slingers of the world, unite! This is your CD. Tony Torres is an unabashed slinger who blends blues riffs with high octane leads. He’s very good at it, but he is also versatile enough to change up the mix. Dramatically.

After the full-tilt blues rocker of the opening title track, “Real Gone Time” and the rhythmically complex “Let’s Rock It”, he shifts into the strange and strangely pleasing “Surf Queen” which combines early 60s surf style guitar with a slightly Latino feel. His smooth vocals also give the song a unique sensibility.

“5 O’Clock Blues” is another hybrid. Its lyrics are classic blues – “It’s 5 o’clock in the morning, and you ain’t here with me, don’t know what you’re up to, don’t know why you leave me be.” But the musical vibe is a mélange of 60s electric country, early 60s rock, a pinch of surf guitar and a whole lotta attitude. It really works.

He takes this feeling even further in the engaging “Cowboy Surfer” which you could also describe as Ghost Riders in the Surf. It is a peculiar and wholly original sound and I found myself getting completely immersed in it.

The more I listen to this CD, the more respect I have for Torres’s ability to fuse a wide range of influences into his song writing and arrangements. Of the 16 tracks on this CD, he wrote or co-wrote (with Dave Costarella) 13 of them.  And they reveal an impressive range of styles, but it is especially how they fuse different styles into something new and fresh that is truly impressive.

“Marie, Marie” is a rocker with strong Cajun influences. The beat is Cajun, the guitar is rockabilly in Cajun rhythm and the voice goes from sounding slightly French to singing in Spanish. That is one musical gumbo.

Then Torres abruptly shifts gears on “Tongue Tied” into a power trio instrumental exploration that has traces of Hendrix, Mountain, and other guitar screamers from the past. He follows this up with another instrumental, “Ribbon In The Sky” that recalls Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana. It’s a laid back, sweet groove with some really intricate but tasteful guitar licks.

And to show even more versatility, Torres lays down some driving slide guitar on “Baby Come Home.”  He wraps up the CD with “El Gato”, a unique take on traditional Mexican rhythms and chord structures with an overlay of blistering lead guitar. Sort of Metallica meets Los Lobos.

This album is many things, but what it isn’t is blues. There really isn’t a straight blues number on it. But it rocks and rolls and takes more left turns than the Indy 500.

Tony Torres can play. His voice, while not a great serves the music well – it fits his musical style, or rather, musical styles. If there could be one criticism of the CD it is that it may be too eclectic. It shifts gears so many times in so many directions, that musical whiplash is a ready threat.

Still, in a world where music seems more and more to be put through a blender, Tony Torres is an original, and that is gone, man. Real gone. Lex Dunn

Pat 'Guitar Slim' Chase - Definitely Live (1995)

                                                            Pat 'Guitar Slim' Chase
Guitar Slim, (Pat Chase), is a jazz and blues guitarist. At the age of 10, he began to learn to play the guitar from his brother who was taking lessons at the time. He practiced hard, developing his gift early on in life.
Young Chase grew up right in the heart of the Bay Area (San Jose), in the sixties and seventies when the blues was experiencing a huge explosion, putting him in the front row of live shows at the Filmore West and The Boarding House which regularly featured Albert King, Otis Rush, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Musselwhite, Rod Piazza, Ron Thompson, Robben Ford and others.
Although Pat's exposure to music began with his father, he credits the time he spent in the Navy, stationed in North Chicago, for helping him to discover the international popularity of the blues. Since then, Pat has backed up, and in some cases toured with, John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, Brownie McGhee, Charles Brown, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells, Lowell Fulson, Luther Tucker, Pee Wee Crayton, Phillip Walker & George "Harmonica" Smith, Rod Piazza, and Smoky Wilson. He has been a member of The William Clark Band, Ron Thompson & the Resistors, and Mark Hummel and the Blues Survivors.
After a lot of jammin' and a little luck, Pat found himself playing with many legendary blues figures. Thanks to a referral from Ron Thompson, and a guitarist who needed a vacation, Pat also spent six months with Sunnyland Slim (pianist for Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, King Curtis) and his band, which featured the father of modern Chicago blues harmonica, Big Walter Horton. Chase reflects, "Here I was, only 24, playing with all these Chicago blues legends. We also jammed with Homesick James, Little Brother Montgomery and Big Time Sarah among others. It was a great experience."
After more than a decade of playing in his own band with some of the Northwest's best players, Pat "Guitar Slim" Chase released his first CD of blues, instrumentals, r&b and a little rock 'n roll entitled, "Dedicated," (dedicated to his father). This debut recording, won the Northwest Area Music Association award for Best Blues Recording, in 1991. It received extensive airplay on KMTT, KPLU, KXRX, KCMU, KBCS and other area blues programming, as well as local television and print reviews. This increased media attention has enabled Guitar Slim to play more varied gigs for arts organizations, festivals and other events.
In 1995, Guitar Slim released his second CD "Definitely Live" - recorded live in Seattle. It received even more extensive air play than his first CD and more great reviews. Pat Chase has established his own regional identity as "Guitar Slim", now living in New Mexico.

Glenn Patrik - Mr. Blues JR. (2007)

                                                                     Glenn Patrik
Although the album's seven raw and soulful vocals and one raucous instrumental jam ("Candystick") are rooted in a distinctly American musical story, Patrik is quickly becoming an international ambassador for the music that has defined his life. Without the benefit of formal radio promotion, tracks from Mr. Blues Jr. have hit the airwaves across the U.S.A. and everywhere from Denmark, Poland and Belgium to Thailand and Brazil. Patrik got the name of his debut recording indirectly from K.C. Blues guitar legend Leon Estelle on "Mr. Blues Day," when the city paid homage to him. Estelle was Patrik's mentor and always told everyone that Patrik was his son. So when someone pulled the younger musician up on stage for the presentation, Grace Harris, aka Amazing Grace, owner of Harris Barbecue, introduced Patrik as "Mr. Blues Jr." This episode reflects the intense professional connection Patrik has had his whole life with legends of the blues we've all heard of (Luther Allison, John Primer, Lefty Dizz) and others who were strictly KC heroes. Over the years, his resume as vocalist, guitarist and arranger grew to include working with Little Hatch & the Houserockers, Ray Drew, Chick Willis, Abb Locke, Anetta "Cotton Candy" Washington, Millage Gilbert, Valerie Wellington, Lefty Dizz, George Baze and Joe Houston; he also spent a year on the road with the great jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogany. Since launching his blues odyssey well before the age of 21, hitchiking and hopping trains from Kansas City, Kansas' massive railroad switching yard to all points north, south, east and west, in search of musicians that he had only heard of, Patrik says, "I've spent the last thirty somethin' years tryin' to show up early, look sharp, and deliver the guitar/vocal sound that the boss was lookin' for." Now, with the release of Mr. Blues, Jr., he's the boss, making sounds that carry on the legacy of the greats he learned from. Mr. Blues Jr. was named the # 12 Blues CD of 2008 on the Real Blues Magazine Top 100 CDs Chart.

Crossroad Blues Band - Smell The Tubes (1993)

                                                            Crossroad Blues Band
In the beginning of 2000, the group records its first single Kade e krajot? (Wheres the end?)- Remake of Buddy Guy or Tom Hyatt's music (not precisely fortified) according Sales text. Dragan B. Kostic (the most famous radio disk jockey in the national radio) noticed this single, which with his comments and available space in the air in a great deal helped the group to gain its broader popularity. Thanks to him, CrossRoad Blues Band manages to get terms in the studios of the Macedonian Television to record its first album named as Tutun Bluz (Tobacco Blues). The motives treated in the CrossRoad Blues Band's songs are from the social sphere and the problems of the ordinary man, which are a common theme in the blues. Curiosity presents the Macedonian text in the songs. Immediately after the recording of the album, CrossRoad Blues Band got offer to participate to the prestigious Blues&Soul Festival in Skopje, directly from the Macedonian guru of blues Vasja Ivanovski. There CrossRoad Blues Band had their first performance side by side with blues masters from all around the world. The cooperation with Vasja Ivanovski continues to the present days. A number of concerts in the Macedonian towns and clubs follow. One of the most significant is the performance on the BLUES & SOUL festival in Skopje in 2001, where they received recognition from the world’s blues scene. The first international performance of the group was on the ROCK & BLUES concert in Sofia Bulgaria, where they “meted out” the forces of the most renowned Bulgarian musicians. From Sofia the group two years in succession played on the International Music Festival in Gabrovo Bulgaria, where it represented Macedonia and was its unique representative. Important are and the performances on the Macedonian Blues Summit in a company with the most famous Macedonian blues lovers, which every year takes place in Skopje.

Wes Jeans - Live At Juanita's Ballroom (2005)

                                                                        Wes Jeans
Striking like a flash of lightning out of the piney wood region of East Texas, Wes Jeans ranks as one of the “Top Young Gun Guitar Players” - Guitar Player Magazine, March 2004. Wes delivers a soul-drenched mix of high voltage, rockin’ Texas Blues. Wes commands the stage from the start to finish and opens with a spirit of intensity that will surely grab you with his grinding rhythms and stinging leads allowing you a deep look into Wes Jeans’ Marshall, TX roots.

In 1996 Wes entered the International Jimi Hendrix Competition held in Austin, TX and placed an amazing second among fifteen hundred other young guitar players. Al Hendrix, father of Jimi Hendrix, told Wes, "In my eyes, you won because you played straight from the heart like Jimi!" These words along with the support of his family and friends set this young Texas Tornado in motion. Soon, Wes was playing area venues and festivals, attracting booking agents and record labels.

Wes’ debut album was recorded with Al Green’s bass player - John Williams & drummer - Lloyd Anderson, as well as Albert King’s former keyboard player. Released in 2000, “Hands On” became the highest pre-sale album on Ice House Records label and reached #26 on the National Blues Sales Chart.

In late 2003, Guitar Player Magazine took a poll and readers voted Wes #3 among the “Young Gun Guitar Players” in the nation between Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd (published March 2004).

In June 2006 Wes released his 2nd studio album "Forest Of The Pine" under Texas Music Records. The album was produced by fellow axe-slayer Lance Lopez and is nothing short of blues/rock perfection. The record showcases Wes' amazing blues guitar prowess and guest stars Memphis' Eric Gales. XM Radio’s - Bluesville put “Forest Of The Pine” into heavy rotation – “This cd kicked my ass! It’s one of the best blues/rock cds of 2006!" - Aaron Lee, XM Radio. In January of 2007 "Forest Of The Pine" climbed its way up to the 3rd position on the German Blues Radio Charts.

In October of 2009 this Texas Tornado struck again with the release of his highly anticipated live CD "Live at Music City Texas", recorded at a sold out show at the Music City Texas Theater in Linden on January 17, 2009. The walls roared as Wes cranked the show open with "Forest of the Pines", a true representation of his East Texas roots. It continued to kick into overdrive when Wes was joined on stage by friend and fellow guitar bad ass Lance Lopez. To top off the nitrous packed performance Wes and fellow song writer Jason Helms performed "Devil in Me", which was just a taste of the future studio CD, "Blood, Sweat and Years". Fans all across the country agree the closest you will get to the live raw stage power of Wes Jeans is "Live at Music City Texas".

Throughout his career, Wes has had the honor of meeting and sharing the stage with many musical greats such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, Billy Gibbons, David Lee Roth, Dick Dale, Eric Johnson, Hubert Sumlin, Lynryd Skynyrd, Robert Cray, Joe Bonamassa, Indigenous, Lance Lopez, Chris Duarte, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, just to name of few.

Wes' unrelenting talent and genuine down-to-earth demeanor have won him the favor of many wonderful people, sponsors and endorsements, and continues to gain the admiration of his audience on and off stage. Sponsorships include GHS Stings, Robin Guitars, Voodoo Amplifiers, Xotic Effects, Svetlana Tubes, Opti-Case, Seymour Duncan pick-ups, and his custom signature cabinet "The Beast" was designed by Wes in conjunction with Mills Acoustics.

‘Texas Young Gun’ Wes Jeans has managed to make some waves in his young career while still toiling the road the old-fashioned way across the country. In addition to his aggressive style of Blues playing, between shows this determined young player drives the van, handles his press obligations via his cell phone, lugs all of his equipment on and off stage... undaunted... night after night.... town after town. His dedication to his trade is both honorable and humbling but it's a true representation of the man behind the guitar. Wes Jeans is a road-tested & approved true Texas star.
