His first CD release "Rico's Gruv Rockin' Blues The EP" also featured Roe Fleenor on harmonica.
Guitar driven bluesy Texas Honky Tonk music, generously infused with country, rock, funk and even a bit of jazz.

Dirty Hands - Dirty Hands (2015)
Dirty Hands
The DH offer nine tracks (plus a bonus track) of a blues rock that stands between tradition and personal influences of four, merging into a result stylistically homogeneous but varied throughout its duration. They range from rock rhythms of songs like “Waitin’ out the door” and “Night time woman” and, passing through the boogie of “Dirties like the blonde”, to songs closer to tradition as “Rolling down the street” and “Black Crow”. Pleasant surprise the presence of an arrangement with violin on bonus track, the track “Fool man blues” performed by violinist A.M. Viani. Also included are some covers of artists that the band cites among his influences ranging from Robert Johnson, one of the greatest exponents of the blues of the origins, the Cream of claptoniana memory, and a very personal version of a song by ZZ Top, the American band that Dirty Hands feel as the most important source of inspiration.

Billylee Janey - Mankiller (1999) (2023)
Billylee Janey
Billylee
Billylee Janey has been compared to such greats as Clapton, Beck, and Hendrix. Even though these guitar heroes have been an inspiration to him, Billylee’s own soulful and passionate love for music clearly and creatively sets him apart, giving him his own unique style and personality. Billylee picked up his first guitar, a German Framus, at an early age. it was during the “British Invasion” that he was taking his first steps in another direction; a direction that would lead him down paths into the music that would shape his future – the blues, jazz and rock. Billylee recorded his first record in 1972 and another in 1973 which included “Pontiac Blues” by Sonny Boy Williamson. In 1975 he recorded a full scale album titled “No Rest for the Wicked” with his bluesy hard rock trio, TRUTH AND JANEY. “No Rest for the Wicked” has achieved near cult status internationally, and has been recognized in the book by Martin Popoff “The Collector’s Guide to Heavy Metal Volume I: The Seventies” and the Acid Archives Book among others.
Recently, Janey received nominations by the Iowa Rock and Roll, and Blue’s Halls of Fame. Also, in 2000, Billylee received a Grammy entry mention. Billylee Janey as played B B KINGS IN MEMPHIS, BUDDY GUYS’ LEGENDS DURING THE CHICAGO BLUES FEST and the MISS. VALLY BLUES FEST. He has worked over 600 major shows in the USA and Canada. Other accomplishments; Head Flyman for David Copperfield, where Janey incorporated guitar stunts and tricks in his live show. Janey worked in theaters for 15 years working on productions such as Chorus Line and 42nd St. he also worked the ABC Network’s farm crisis with the Donahue Show and over 600 arena shows for jazz, blues and pop rock including Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and George Thorogood. Janey was a part of production on the feature film “Miles From Home” starring Richard Gere. Janey played on stage with Buddy Guy, Little Ed and was the backing band for Bo Diddley shows in 2000.
BillyLee Janey PosterIn 2001, there was a wonderful Truth and Janey reunion with the classic line-up that produced a couple of great live shows. A year or two later they played again as there were inducted into the Iowa Rock Hall of Fame.
Today, Billylee continues to test the waters with his solo career and his 14th and latest release “Gimme Some Lightnin’” – on the Texas-based Rockadrome label. While he is staying busy these days with performances, recordings and many a late night writing and composing, Billylee hasn’t forgotten what this is all about for him. “I want to share with people what I feel in my heart, continue to give something new to the people who support live music and challenge myself.”

Scott McKeon - Live at Masterlink (2023)
Scott McKeon
Scott McKeon is one of the most exciting guitarists of his generation.
No wonder he played guitar for the likes of Tom Jones, Van Morrison, Ed Sheeran and a good host of other high-caliber artists.
In addition to his sublime guitar skills his artistic soul has urged him to release his own records. Hardly a surprise that an outstanding musician like him has surrounding himself with outstanding musicians to bring his artistry to life.
No better collection of songs than this 'Live at Masterlink' offering - an evocative, exciting, sensual and absolutely riveting document of a few memorable hours of music making with his stellar ensemble.
'Live at Masterlink' was born out of 'The Masterlink Sessions' - filming and recording one song with invited guests and the studio house band - 100% live.
This natural progression results in 'fly-on-the-wall', unbridled, close-up and exciting live performances - documented in high quality - created to please the ears and eyes of the known and unknown public.

Delgado Brothers - Delgado Brothers (1987)
Delgado Brothers
The Delgado Brothers self-titled debut effort comes off more like polished blues-pop compared to their late-'90s and early-2000s blues tunes with a Latin beat sound. Steve Delgado's vocals on "Where Do I Stand" sound like a sweetened Julio Cesar Rojas, whereas "It Ain't There" is more of a slow pop love ballad.

The Champ Jaxon Band - The Grove (2021)
Champ Jaxon
Champ Jaxon is a twelve year-old aspiring blues-rock musician based out of Southwest Florida. Champ was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 2010 and his family relocated back to Florida in 2013 when he was three years old. Shortly thereafter, in the Spring of 2014, Champ attended the Wanee Music Festival, seeing the Allman Brothers Band on their farewell tour, which ignited the fire that has fueled his passion for music ever since.
Champ began studying the guitar around age six, although he'd previously had a ukulele and toy guitars. His debut performance came when sang one song at a youth talent showcase in May 2018 at age seven. That was followed by a handful of local open mic appearances, which led to his first featured gig in March of 2019 at age eight. Since then, Champ has appeared in over 120 paid performances at various venues throughout South Florida and six other states, including opening the 2019 Big Orange Music Festival, where he shared the bill with Blackberry Smoke and The Allman Betts Band. He has also played lead guitar with the Marshall Tucker band twice, including an entire set opening for "Alabama" at Oak Mountain Ampitheatre in Birmingham, AL in August of 2021.
Champ's band mates include his father, Nate Winkler on rhythm guitar and backup vocals, Brent Adam on drums and Nick Rosado on bass guitar.

Gisele Jackson & The Shu Shu´s - Soul Live (2021)
Gisele Jackson
If, as they say, Blues is the mother, Jazz the teacher and Funk the preacher, can we add Gospel as the spirit, and Soul as the emotion so we can have it all? To put it in even more biblical terms “In the beginning was the Rhythm ..." At the end of the 50s, Jazz, after the exhaustion from bebop and cool, returned to its origins emerging with the restorative and culturally significant hard-bop and jazz-funk, which was heavily dominated by young black musicians. Gospel, blues, jazz, funk, rhythm & blues, soul and house, appear or are evoked and referenced in this magnificent album which exemplifies the power and universality of black music, a cultural expression that runs from the deepest spirituality to the most visceral. Gisele Jackson and The Shu Shu’s distil this mixture with an authentic, respectful and exquisite selection of tracks. Jackson is an excellent artist who masters all styles; a privileged voice, perfect technique, charisma and "savoir faire". She started her career very young, and her repertoire is so broad and complete, that defining her as a "house diva" – as some have done - is overly simplistic. She worked with Ray Charles, James Brown and Donna Summer and learned from these "that music is everything". During her young years of musical training, she assimilated all the various styles she was exposed to and therefore has developed such a broad repertoire and a superb eclecticism. The backing trio, The Shu Shu’s is made up of guitarist Dave Wilkinson, Abel Boquera on Hammond B3 and Caspar StCharles on drums - all three Europeans living in Barcelona. The musicians have their own disciplines and bring their different musical personalities to the Trio. A compact and well assembled group, making music that is balanced and tasteful and based on a powerful groove. It’s in the shuffle, medium tempos and fluid r & b, where they are most 'at home'. We enjoyed Dave's precise ‘compings’ and sharp riffs, Abel's expressive harmonic waves and flowing bass lines, and Caspar's rhythmic control and punch. The intense and concise solos added to the stellar performance of Gisele, generous with her musicians, as all the greats are. The recording is live from the exceptional concert at L’Auditori de Castelló in May 2021. It’s a powerful and fresh sound, which thanks to the tightness of the performers, introduces touches of a studio recording. An extraordinary album, with a total of ten formidable songs, some original compositions and some classics, that deserves a prominent place on the shelf of any self-respecting fan.<BR> Toni Gallen

Mick Simpson - The Slow Blues Sessions (2022)
Mick Simpson
Brit guitarist singer-songwriter Mick Simpson has been putting in his dues over a career spanning more than forty years as an in-demand session man and solo artist. Once you give this recording a listen you will more than understand why. Not only is he a gifted guitar master, but he is also a fine singer and songwriter as well. The tone he achieves in his playing is quite an astonishing thing. His expressive vocals go hand-in-hand as an extension of his guitar notes. The able-bodied band assembled here gives steady support and enhancement. Keyboard and bass player Andy Littlewood doubles as producer and engineer. Pete Nelson handles the drum seat. The MEP Collective contributes horns. The album is a collection of songs from his recordings of the last twelve years along with one as one new one.
No need to comment on varying tempos in the songs, as this is The Slow Blues Sessions. All songs are composed by different configurations of Simpson and Littlewood. Mick’s plaintive vocal style is well represented on tracks like “Love Me Tonight”, You Gotta Change” and “When The Sun Goes Down”, among others. The guitar playing throughout is an air-piercing thing of auditory beauty. He combines acoustic and electric guitars in the lovely and deliberate “Shelter From The Storm”.
On the majestic instrumental “A Father’s Son” Mick’s guitar sounds as if it is soaring towards the heavens. The closest comparison would be to Jeff Beck. The other instrumental is in a similar vain, perhaps a little more austere. The guitar tone he uses on these songs is truly magnificent. The acoustic piano frames the song nicely.
A mournful atmosphere is attained on “Unfinished Business” as the guitar competes with piano and organ swirls. B.B. King like guitar inhabits the blues of “Somewhere Down The Line”. More B.B. King guitar on “Sweet Lorraine”. It also includes organ, trumpet and strings. Mick delivers a heartfelt yearning vocal on this one. A Jeff Beck-like intro leads into “Drowning In My Tears” with strings once again. Strings are found on six of the songs. A bit difficult to tell if they are real or synth generated as there is no mention of strings in the liner notes. Promises broken is the theme of “Promised The Earth” that features nice melodic guitar as usual.
Mick Simpson delivers a cohesive melding of poignant songs, poignant vocalizing and tantalizing guitar. His well-versed band ties it all together. It always puzzles me that someone of this caliber isn’t more widely known. If there is any fairness left in this world, music lovers would buy this gem by the droves.

Tyler Dow Bryant - Born In Texas (2007)
Tyler Dow Bryant
Tyler Dow Bryant (born February 24, 1991) is an American rock musician from Honey Grove, Texas, United States.
Tyler got his first guitar at the age of 6. When he was 11, he sold the dirtbike his parents had given to him for Christmas and bought his first electric guitar, a red Epiphone Les Paul from Hollybond’s Music Store in Paris, Texas. While still in elementary school, he met Roosevelt Twitty, a then-63-year-old blues musician from Paris, Texas. Mr. Twitty taught Tyler how to play the blues. At 13, Tyler and Mr. Twitty started playing shows around Texas. This was the age that Tyler also started writing songs.
At 15, Tyler put together the Tyler Bryant Band. The band toured Texas and the surrounding states. At one point, they played shows in Germany and Prague. In 2006, at 15, he was presented with the Robert Johnson Gibson New Generation Award for aspiring young guitar players. In 2007, Tyler won Ernie Ball’s first “Play Crossroads Competition”, which got him a spot performing at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago.

Greg Koch - 13X12 (2003)
Greg Koch
Actually, the good Greg Lieschen should be called. At least that's how diligent he is when it comes to releasing new CDs. Almost every year there is something new to report from the cooking studio. To top it all off, Greg has even released a brand new double CD.
"13 x 12" is the title of the new album. 13 stands for disc 1 with 13 sung tracks, while disc 2 contains 12 instrumental songs in total.
And it wouldn't be Greg Koch if stylistic elements from blues, rock and jazz didn't reappear in his songs.
On the first CD, Greg sings all the songs himself. And his voice sounds at least as strong as his various guitars. This also applies to drummer Gary Koehler, who took over the other half of the vocal parts.
As already mentioned, Greg grooves through a wide variety of music genres. Beg, Borrow And Steal briskly blues in the best of Chicago style. dr Jekyll, on the other hand, rattles out of the grooves as a flawless and happy boogie.
As a tribute to the DIXIE DREGS, Smack Dab sounds . Great guitar runs and a powerfully gripping rhythm section make a lot of steam. Stylistically, the New Country faction can happily rub their ears.
Too broke later served the classic blues community. Greg spices it all up with a heavy pinch of smooth jazz.
The master changes styles like a chameleon changes color. After the smooth blues, flyover country rocks out of the membranes as a classic mix of classic and southern rock. The devilishly fast plucked guitars sound fantastic. And for fans of the hard SRV blues, there's Pink Toenails at the end .
The second, purely instrumental, CD begins like the first. Chicago style blues with gorgeous swinging guitar. Foolish Mortals then seamlessly transitions into jazz fusion. Kevin Mushel's throbbing bass is in a class of its own.
On Shakedown you can rock again. Greg's fingers race over the strings with dignified Albert Lee speed.
And then it gets awesome. Sure Betts appears to be a nod to Dickey Betts. The song could also be from an old ALLMAN BROTHERS album. A truly great southern rocker. Of course, the typical Hammond sound shouldn't be missing in the background.
I can't say whether the following Blackhawk Suite is a homage to the band of the same name. The ballad is a mix of classic rock, southern and some jazz. A daring mix that sounds strong.
A little later, Greg has an adventurous duel with Steve Cohen and his harmonica. Both musicians outdo each other in terms of speed and playfulness. A happy number.
Greg Koch's new double CD "13 x 12" is full of variety. Different styles are skilfully combined by the "Plek-Comedian". "13 x 12" is an album of high quality craftsmanship and strong songwriting. As always, Greg presents all of this with tongue-in-cheek humour.
Sound and production are excellent. Joachim Domrath

Dave Walker - Walking Underwater (2007)
Dave Walker
Thirty years may have elapsed since his Savoy Brown pomp, but you wouldn't know it from Walking Underwater. With the Walker lungs as loud and leathern as ever, and a band that blisters as brutally as the Brown ever did, Walking Underwater is one of those albums that you hear for the first time, and it immediately transports you back to a time when all British blues records were capable of sounding this good. The chiming bluster of the opening "Little Susie and Mr Tight" is the fanfare that draws you in, but ten Walker band originals don't let up for a moment, whether pumping through the downbeat shuffle of "I Can Make It on My Own," lamenting the piano-led passion of the title track, or frolicking across "Black Steel Blues" -- and a word here for guitarist Jim Lewis; if you've ever wondered what Paul Kossoff would have sounded like if he was really Robin Trower, "Walking Underwater" and "Weep No More" will answer your question. New blues albums are ten a penny these days. But truly great ones have been at a premium since the mid-'70s went out of fashion. Walking Underwater is the album we've been waiting for since then.

Paul Orta & Little Ray Ybarra - Backporch Blues (2014)
Paul Orta & Little Ray Ybarra
When it comes to blues that is the “real deal,” Paul Orta walks the walk. This Port Arthur bluesman has been on the Texas blues scene for decades – with over a dozen albums to his credit. This latest release carries a master’s legacy into the 21st Century.
Orta is best known for tours with his band The Kingpins, but this new recording is a return to where the blues starts – with a jug around a kitchen table or a backporch cooking up blues using just the basic ingredients. His new release, “Backporch Blues” aptly is named. The CD features 12 songs recorded with Little Ray Ybarra in a production with no smoke, no mirrors or net. In these days of over-produced recordings, many forget the sound and origins of true roots blues. This recording is totally raw, down and dirty foot-stompin’ blues.
Orta and Ybarra deliver bare-bones blues as performed in small roadhouses, speakeasies, gin mills and street corners where the blues is born, lives and thrives. Every song on the CD, especially the ones penned by Orta, are a tribute to the great blues legends like Willie Dixon, Jimmy Reed, Big Walter, B.B. King and others. Wailing on the blues harp that has gained Orta world renown – combined with Ybarra’s rock-solid guitar work, the duo has painted a sonic canvas that, if you close your eyes, puts you in a smoke-filled bar or roadhouse. These are men that live and love the blues and this CD is a straight shot dead center into the heart of the genre. If authentic blues is what you seek, look no further – pull up a chair and sit yourself down on the backporch. JACK ARMSTRONG

The Sandra Wright Band - Shake You Down (1995)
Sandra Wright
Sandra Wright began singing at the age of four and continued through school and church, eventually training to be an Opera singer at Tennessee State University (TSU). Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Sandra remembers the blues and barbeque of Beale Street; her first cousin was Blues legend Memphis Slim. While attending TSU, Sandra entered a talent contest where she met "Sweet" Charles Sherrelle who was a member of the talent contest backing band and who has encouraged her to sing. Actually she won singing Rhythm and Blues. After college Sandra hit the road with the Canned Souls and in 1974, Sandra recorded an album for Stax / Truth records, Wounded Woman, which was never released on Stax. Demon Records released Wounded Woman in 1989 for the first time. After Stax was lost to the IRS, Sandra sang at the New Modern Era club in Nashville for 17 years. It was there that B-3 master Moe Denham found her and she joined him and future Sandra Wright Band (SWB) drummer Lloyd Herrman in a local band called Bordello. Sandra next joined Moe and Lloyd in Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown's band touring the US and Canada. In late 1989, she returned to Nashville and with Moe, John, Lloyd and guitarist Pete Marriott, started the Sandra Wright Band. Sandra and the band moved to Vermont in 1992. Sandra Wright suffered a blood clot and died at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire in January 2010.
The Sandra Wright Band's CD Shake You Down, produced by Grammy award-winning producer/ engineer Jay Newland, was released in 1995 on the Hipshake label. Warren Hayes, guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule is featured on two tracks.
