Ty Curtis Band
Cross That Line is the first release from the band featuring their IBC award-winning line-up. It is miles ahead of their previous releases when it comes to songwriting, performance and production. Of course, that may have something to do with the Grammy-winning David Z behind the scenes in production, engineering and mixing. But it is the music that stands straight up and grabs you be the collar from the get-go. Ty’s lyrics and music show growth and these tunes shouldn’t just appeal to the blues crowd, they’re fully capable of crossing over, just as indicated by the CD’s title. Ty penned all but three of the tracks, and of the others Hank Shreve authored “Bad News.” Mike Morgan & The Crawl’s barn-burner “Do I Love You Too Much” has become a staple of their live shows and was a number that had the audience on their feet in the IBC finals in Memphis. And the oft-covered ‘Five Long Years” shows how a classic, well-known piece can take on new life when played to another outfit’s own styling as the band has done here.

Paul Ramirez Band - Sex With a Dragon (2012) reposted
Paul Ramirez Band
“A weekly gig is about the best way for guitarists to hone their craft, and Houston's Paul Ramirez has done just that Wednesday nights at the Continental Club for more than a year now. It pays off in Sex With a Dragon, his debut CD that throws in a little Santana and New Orleans R&B into Ramirez's stick-to-your-ribs Texas blues-rock and shows some salty reverence towards Blind Lemon Jefferson's "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean." Dragon breathes enough fire that it doesn't wilt when held up to the gold standard of 2012 Lone Star guitarslinger offerings, Gary Clark Jr.'s Blak and Blu.”

JD Blu Band - You Can't Have That (2001)
JD Blu Band
The J.D. Blu Band; Just three guys. That's all they need. Chaos reigns whenever the J.D. Blu Band is playing. Club owners have actually asked them to take a break to give the crowd a chance to settle down. Then at the end of the night they ask them 'How soon can you guys come back'?!! Bam magazine writer Steve Stolder was quoted in the South Bay Beat column saying, 'The J.D. Blu Band has a rough and tumble approach of solid guitar that would give even the most dedicated rock and blues fan something to cheer about'. Their rhythm section has been quoted as 'The best blues rhythm section on the west coast'. Their first CD release, 'You Can't Have That' features 10 original compositions and the Albert Collins cover, 'If You Love Me Like You Say'. The legendary Duke Jethro was kind enough to lend his talents on track 4, 'Heavenly Brothers'. From the smokin' 'Rock & Rollin' on a Saturday Night' to the soulful 'Heavenly Brothers', the J.D. Blu Band show their versatility and keep the listener moving by mastering several different blues styles. Recorded at the famous Soundtek Studios in Campbell, California, engineer Brett Tyson captured some special moments that, until now, could only be heard at a J.D. Blu live show. Check out the J.D. Blu Band, it's Rockin' Blues at it's best!

Mick Mercury & The Meteors - Beerman (EP) (2005)
Mick Mercury
Beer Man - Mick Mercury & the Meteors' newest CD is a live studio recording of this 4-piece blues band. A vintage 70s sound blend of American and English-style blues with 7 original tracks.
With Mick on vocals and bass, Pops Mercury on vocals and harmonica, Rod Broadbent on guitar and Kevin Hoffman on drums, "Beerman" delivers the blues with a taste of rock. “Boogie with your Baby”, puts you right out on the dance floor of a bar where “On the Streets” sets a rock mood.
All 7 tracks feature Micks gritty but slick voice and nice touches of harmonica. The guitar playing was the highlight of the disk.

Dr. Project Point Blank Blues Band - Sunny Sky (1997) reposted
Dr. Project Point Blank Blues Band
Point Blank, probably, the first real blues band in former Yugoslavia, enough honest and brave to dive deep into the blues idiom at the time which was over piled with music so much different from blues, as well as fighting against, for so, so long, firmly established opinion that Balkans couldn't cope with such kind of feelings arose from dark depths of American black society's spiritual tradition. English language finally cemented down the prejudice, casting away an idea to playing blues music as already highly respected form of musical expression. But..., as always happens, something was creeping out from the cellar!
The very beginning of the summer 1983 found Dragoljub Crncevic-Baki, the prodigal son, and two, the off-road pals of his, one Timothy Davis an American, the other Michael Sulc an Australian, coming to visit Baki's hometown Belgrade, in which somewhere in shadows languished Dragan Markovic, a. k. a. Mare di Luna, waiting for an opportunity to knock!
That summer was good as any other, and almost out of nothing came out the very first true YU blues outfit, Dr. Project - Point Blank. During that summer, Dr. Project - Point Blank boasted quite a reputation as a blues group through live appearances, which led to an idea of recording the very first YU LP in English, entirely self composed, which would range from bottleneck to all-electric city blues based on Chicago and Detroit downtown guitar styles. Again, as usually happens, drummer Michael Sulc got homesick and left. Not long after that another fine drummer, Miroljub Vilotijevic, was augmented to the group. The wheels started turning...!
Mr. Djordje Debac, musical producer of PGP-RTB, was wise enough, after listening to demo, for not longer than five minutes, to give the group their first contract. The necessary time for recording in studio came along.
The very outfit, mentioned above, comprising of D. Crncevic-Baki (vocal, guitars), D. Markovic (guitars), Timothy Davis (vocals, bass) and M. Vilotijevic (drums, percussion), brought out their first born and gave him his Christian name, The Blues!
After, by critics, well received first album and public acclaim, Point Blank proved, for the first time in the history of YU rock, that English language and musical expression in its blues form couldn't have been a barrier for approaching wider audience.
That fact opened the door to formation of the steady blues scene first in Belgrade, then in other cities like Novi Sad, Nis, Zagreb, etc. Finally blues became incorporated into Yugoslav musical body for good. At the time of the first LP Timothy Davis unfortunately left, and was briefly replaced by the newcomer Sasa Labudovic. However, by second album group's direction Point Blank, probably, the first real blues band in former Yugoslavia, enough honest and brave to dive deep into the blues idiom at the time which was over piled with music so much different from blues, as well as fighting against, for so, so long, firmly established opinion that Balkans couldn't cope with such kind of feelings arose from dark depths of American black society's spiritual tradition. At the time of the first LP Timothy Davis unfortunately left, and was briefly replaced by the newcomer Sasa Labudovic. However, by second album group's direction was begining to shift away from the blues as evidenced in numbers such as Glass Rider and Sisters of Mercy, as well as experimenting with rhythm in Broken Toillette's Seat Blues, showing necessary complexity in arrangements throughout the material. Well composed, arranged and imaginative, Dr. Project - Point Blank, the second album remains possibly the finest Point Blank's album to date.
In late summer 1986, not long after very successful Mid-European tour, due to internal stresses D. Markovic departed to form his own group, Di Luna Blues Band, which is doing well since then. Replacement was found in Aleksandar Kozakijevich with whome band kept on constant gigging across former Yugoslavia. By the end of 1991 along came well known crissis. Yugoslavia was splitted and the band fell apart altogether. Point Blank went down into a period of hibernation.
During 1995 and 1996, Point Blank came out as trio, D. Crncevic (vocal, guitars) with R. Bulatovic (bass) and M. Karlovic (drums), cutting rather disappointing, Southern Comfort, their third album, falling apart for the second time after a handful of gigs.
In attempt to put up Point Blank on its feet again, D. Crncevic gathered completely new outfit consisting of one time member A. Kozakijevich (guitar), D. Grujic (keyboards), D. Petrovic (bass), G. Ilic (drums), (who replaced B. Balos), with the addition of the third guitarist B. Milosevic.
This lineup recorded much improved Sunny Sky, the fourth album, by the end of summer 1997. In that formation Point Blank has been touring Yugoslavia, Macedonia and Italy during 1997 and 1998. Not long after Christmas 1998 all members left except keyboards player Darko Grujic and founder member Dragoljub Crncevic. Two young musicians were brought in, Zoran Milenkovic on bass and Jovan Pejcinovic on drums, which rounded up new, rejuvenated quartet, ready to bite down hard! After a couple of months of rehearsing during 2000 this new formation occupied studio, for a week’s time during December the same year, and recorded excellent LP having John O'Leary, prominent British harmonica hero, as a guest.

The Newports - Live at the Acorn! (2019)
The Newports
The Newports' roots are in Chicago's south suburbs, and our playlist of blues, rock, funk, and soul has that distinctive Chicago vibe. The band's sound features a tight, soulful four-piece horn section under the direction of Sonny Lee Tritt, the harmonica magic of Jumpin' Gene Halton, R&B keyboard and vocal stylings of Eddie Beard, and the high-energy guitar and vocals of wild man Mark Rongers. We perform regularly in the greater Chicago area, northwest Indiana, and southwest Michigan. From community festivals to roadhouse bars to corporate gigs to our high-energy stage show, you'll experience a soulful performance unlike anything you've ever seen.
The Newports' debut album, The Newports Live! At the Acorn, was released in July 2019 on Cherry Ridge Records. Recorded at The Acorn Theater in Three Oaks Michigan last November, the ten tracks on the album range from reggae (Bob Marley’s “Is This Love”) to soul (“Low Rider,” “Knock on Wood”), to Hendrix (“All Along the Watchtower”) to blues (Gary Clark Jr.'s "When My Train Pulls In").

Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion - Good Times (Remixed, Remastered 2023 + Bonus Tracks) (2023)
Zoe Schwarz
“As an artist, instinctively releasing old material generates the thought “but that was then, I play, sing, or write songs much better now”. A good 10 plus years has passed since this session! If I was to separate myself from it personally, I believe I can hear a fantastic energy, high-quality musicians playing together ‘live in the studio’ with a definite collective idea! Something that has all the ingredients to grow and evolve over time, it’s up to the listener to decide if we’ve proven that point. I was never satisfied with the initial mix, and this anniversary landmark presented the opportunity to re-present our first album with a straightforward, honest and rootsy re-mix. As a counterbalance I’ve added three much more recent bonus tracks, a sort of then and now reference. I hope you enjoy the music.” – Rob Koral

Electric Blues - Time Passed Me By (2024)
Electric Blues
The band Noordwijk Electric Blues was founded by Henk Vegt, Bert Bulk and Wendel Hillebrands in the early years (1967–1968) "when the boys were only 15" under the name "Relax", but in 1969 the name was renamed Electric Blues , a name that best describes him because the repertoire consisted exclusively of Blues songs by John Mayall-Cuby-Savoy Brown-Ten Years After-Livin' Blues etc. In 1969 drummer Dick van Oosten joined the band. The band was soon invited to perform, first in Bollenstreek and then far beyond Germany. In Noordwijk and the surrounding area the band had many loyal fans who traveled to every performance. The band already had its own Bandbus, unique for the time, with ELECTRIC BLUES written in large letters. Guitarist Wendel Hillebrands was a real attraction at that time, he saw the opportunity to evoke difficult and especially fast blues riffs from his Les Paul guitar, something that was hardly seen on Dutch stages at the time (1970 and brought from Great Britain). Wendel was in a wheelchair because he suffered from infantile paralysis in his youth. But... he was taken everywhere by the band members and was therefore a full member of the band. Unfortunately, Wendel passed away in 1989, at the age of 41.

The Newports - Let's Dance Again! (2022)
The Newports
The Newports' upcoming show at The Acorn on June 24th is indeed our Last Dance. It's a decision we make in joy, not sadness, and with the upmost respect and love for one another and for all of you who have been with us on our musical journey. Some of you have followed us since our debut at Roosevelt Junior High, and others since we reconvened the band on The Acorn stage eight years ago. While "The Last Dance" will be our last live performance as a group, we will continue to distribute our music through our Cherry Ridge Records label. Three singles drop in the next five week, followed by the "Let's Dance Again" album on June 17th. More singles and another album will be released in the fall and our fourth album comes out in 2023.
The nine of us continue to make music. Mark, Terry, and Gene Nourie perform regularly with Scamp, and Mark has returned to The Nick Danger Band and other ensembles in the region too numerous to mention. Terry has the Calumet Band, Saxophones, and other musical projects. Jumpin' Gene, Jeff, and Bill will be introducing The Newport Blues Project at Three Oaks Music in the Park on Labor Day Weekend. Ralph continues with his awesome horn-based KGB Band, while Eddie and Darryl are emersed in the south suburban jazz scene. Music is our lives, and our lives are music. This always has been, and it always will be. We are fortunate to have been able to share with you, and we will continue to do so, in many ways. Our love to all of you. The Newports.

Johnny Winter & Uncle Joe Turner - Back In Beaumont (1981)
Johnny Winter & Uncle Joe Turner
Uncle John Turner was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas. He first played drums with Jerry LaCroix. Unc met the Winter brothers and performed with them a few times as a substitute. In 1968, Unc convinced Johnny to try a full blown blues band and sent for his friend Tommy Shannon to play bass. This group quickly got natonal recognition and began making records and shortly after that played Woodstock, with Edgar Winter as the fourth member. By late 1970, they had split up and Uncle John and Tommy moved to Austin and formed a band called Krackerjack, which had Stevie Ray Vaughan as one of the major guitarists, along with Jesse Taylor, John Stahely, and Robin Syler. But later in the seventies he was playing with the legendary Johnny Winter again, and this record is testament to the blues magick these two great bluesmen could produce when they put their mind to it.

Pierce Dipner - Goin' Back (2022)
Pierce Dipner
Pierce Dipner’s inaugural album features seven originals and three varied covers from this young musician from Pittsburgh, PA. He’s been down to Memphis twice for the International Blues Challenge and formed his own band in 2018. Mixing, blues, rock and soul, Dipner shows diversity in his music and his album has received local and some national recognition.
Dipner handles the vocals and guitar here. Arnold Stagger is ob bass while Joe Munroe handles keys and Blaise Lanzetta plays drums. He’s got a great horn section of Rick Matt on sax, JD Chaisson on trumpet and Reggie Watkins on trombone; Reggie also did the horn arrangements.
The album begins with an inspired original, “Fool’s Gold.” A straight up blues with a solid guitar lead and nice accompaniment, Dipner shows his stuff vocally and on guitar. Piano and organ fill in adds well to the mix, Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” follows. The horns, piano and organ play a big part in the mix. Dipner’s guitar has some interesting fiddle like effects added and the overall feel is cool and well done. “empty Bed Blues” is a traditional Chicago blues with Dipner showing respect for the roots of urban blues with some big guitar and good keyboard support. “Nobody But Myself to Blame” follows, a modern blues with a jazzy sound. An organ and later a big guitar solo are featured here. Slow blues are the order of the day for “Tore Us Apart,” with the organ taking us a little to church as Pierce testifies to us vocally and on guitar.
“Goin’ Back” follows, another Chicago styled blues reminiscent of Howling Wolf. Sean Costello’s “No Half Steppin’” is next, with Dipner singing and playing soulfully. All the instruments play a bog role in selling this one. “We’re Not Leaving” has a bouncing groove and a bit of swing to it for variety. Lots of good piano here to enjoy. “Won’t You Come Home” also has an old time, bouncing feel to it. Guitar and organ are the primary focus here in this driving tune that builds and builds. The album concludes with “Memphis in the Rain,” the final cover tune. This one is from Justin Towne Earle, another talented young musician who left us too early. Dipner does a great job with it, featuring searing guitar and great support all around.
Pierce can hold his head high– this is an excellent debut album by a talented young artist whom I am sure we will hear more from soon!

Winter Blues Band - Tale Of A Lone Lil' Boy (2024)
Winter Blues Band
Born in 1986 in Rochefort into a family of musicians, Quentin WINTER has been immersed in music since his childhood. Passionate about the blues since he was 17, he began playing the guitar, which he practiced fiercely, improving and exploring different musical styles such as traditional French and Irish music.
Around 22, Quentin started his first traditional music group and a few years later, a Blues duo. At the same time, he worked for 10 years in the factory until the day he decided to give up everything to live from his passion: music. Then aged 29, Quentin professionalized at CIAM in Bordeaux.
The Blues is his heartfelt music and he draws on his musical journey to create a universe of his own. He composes around fifteen pieces which he plays in One Man Band and in trio.
In 2018, Quentin, on guitar and vocals, formed the Winter Blues Band, an electric blues power trio, with two experienced musicians: Cyril Babin on Bass and Sébastien Jonckheere on drums.
In 2020, Quentin recorded his very first solo EP as an author, composer and performer with the assistance of musical creation from Charente-Maritime. The following year and in total self-production, the Winter Blues Band entered the studio and recorded Quentin's compositions on a second EP.
After around fifty concerts, the group will perform at Cognac Blues Passion in 2022.

Jo Hell - Live At The Pjeireblues (2011)
Jo Hell
Born and raised in Montreal Jo Hell began his career at 16 years old playing local clubs and festivals across Quebec, jamming and learning from many like Bob Harrisson, Jean Milaire, Zim Zellers, Carl Tremblay or Bob Walsh until he got his first invitation to play the Montreal International Jazz Festival in July 2001 with his newly formed band - the Red Roosters. In 2006, with hundreds of shows already under his belt and a first album recorded at the renowned Victor Studio in Montreal - South Side (2000) - Jo Hell and the band drive south to explore the legendary blues music venues, traditional juke joints along the route and eventually end up playing Austin's SXSW Festival in 2006.
Fascinated by the local music scene of the Live Music Capital of the World, home town to Steve Ray Vaughan and many of their favourite blues-men, Jo Hell & The Red Roosters decided to stay and soon became the house band at the blues club Nuno's on 6th. While hosting there they not only shared the stage with several blues legends such as Pine Top Perkins, Hubert Sumlin', Buddy Miles, Gary Clark Jr. or Gary Busey to name a few, but also got invited to feature in local festivals, namely, the Red, White & Blues Festival at Waterloo Park. During this period in the USA, Jo Hell would have his music feature in radio, perform on local TV and in famous venues like Antone's, in Austin or Buddy Guy's Legends club in Chicago. Hitting the road frequently to perform on several stages around Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and California, Jo hell would perfect his high energy performances and get recognized for his guitar playing and raunchy voice, while getting to experience first hand the true deep-south blues scene that has always sparked in him enormous inspiration and joy.
On one of the trips to Montreal the power trio returns to Victor Studio for a second album - self-titled Jo Hell - released in 2008. In 2009, the Jo Hell Band performs for the first time in Europe, when invited to headline the Pjeireblues Festival, in Belgium. The show is live recorded and turned into their third album. On their way back to north America, they perform for the third time at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. When back in the USA, Jo Hell released several albums namely Rockin' Land - recorded at the Boiler Room Studio - Still Alive recorded live at Rumi's Tavern - and the movie soundtrack project entitled Shotgun Love with the single Bullet Back - recorded at the Perfect Pitch Studio in Austin and made in collaboration with local musicians. Until 2018 Jo Hell remained based in Texas, playing the local circuit and performing several venues across USA.
He has since 2019 moved back to his hometown Montreal and released his first ever french rock & blues album entitled Retour aux Racines, produced independently. During recent years Jo Hell has had the pleasure of sharing the stage and playing with great blues and rock musicians such as Frank Hannon, Martin Deschamps, among many others. Along the years Jo Hell's signature performances and high energy Blues Rock music have become a proven formula that always gets audiences engaged and captivates fans from all over the globe.

Glenn Patrik - Nuthin' But A Thang (2009)
Glenn Patrik
From America's heartland, Glenn Patrik sings and plays the kind of blues that made Kansas City a hub where musical pioneers met and exchanged ideas about swing, rhythm, blues, and being spontaneous. It was shortly before World War II and just about the same time that bebop was getting noticed in New York, when Kansas City began its parlay with the blues. Give Charlie Parker credit for much of that early action along with Big Jay McShann, but don't forget the contributions that Bennie Moten, Hot Lips Page, Count Basie, and Jimmy Rushing had on this blues style that married with jazz. Big Joe Turner and dozens of noted singers led the way too, as bluesmen from all over the country traveled through town on the way to New York, Chicago or elsewhere.
Born and raised in Kansas City and a part of today's generation of bluesmen, Patrik carries a genuine hometown swing with his message, allowing the band to ooze comfortably with its rhythmic wave and to cover the territory with finger-poppin' charm. He sings with authority and fills on guitar while coordinating with bass, keyboards and drums in a laid-back affair. Together, they create an atmosphere where blues reigns supreme and Kansas City lends its influence. But there's a lot more going on here, including bits and pieces that Patrik has absorbed from listening to a variety of artists such as Aaron Neville, Jimmy Reed and B.B. King.
On the track "Kansas City," Patrik establishes a swing mood, slows it down considerably for "The Bossman" blues, and delivers "Thang Thang" with funk-driven James Brown energy. Elsewhere, he drives through a field holler, some contemporary blues, and several moaners where he exhibits clear mastery of the guitar. Patrik turns passion into heartbreak and rolls over swing things with a comfortable ease. He's at his best with soulful ballads such as "Friend of Mine" where his sincere approach pays off with meaningful agreement and a cohesive blend that leaves a powerful message. By Jim Santella

Rocky Athas - Livin' My Best Life (2024)
Rocky Athas
Rocky Athas, known by critics and fans as The Texas Tornado, The Malice from Dallas, The Young Eric Clapton and The Last Great Bluesbreaker Guitarist, possesses an arsenal of punishing guitar riffs and catchy hooks that have opened every door. From his first solo album at Willie Nelson's studio with multi-Grammy winning producer, Jim Gaines, to recording with Buddy Miles and SRV's Double Trouble to Glenn Hughes, Joe Walsh and John Mayall, Rocky has a blues rock pedigree that reads like a Who's Who of musicians. You might not remember how to pronounce his name correctly, but you will most certainly remember his playing! In March 2024, his wonderfully crafted new album, Livin’ My Best Life, was released. Rocky gives his fans “ten bodacious tracks of high octane music” to encourage everyone to live their best lives and he delivers that musical message with his trademark guitar pyro-technics and iconic Texas style.
After carrying the mantle of the coveted role of lead guitarist with John Mayall's legendary Bluesbreakers for eight years, Rocky Athas returned from the international touring stage to reclaim his rightful place front and center with his successfully established solo career. The much anticipated reunion between Rocky's good friend and multi-Grammy winning producer, Jim Gaines, delivered Shakin' the Dust to rave reviews and garnered a nomination for Album of the Year!
In 2014, Rocky released Let My Guitar Do The Talking...With My Friends on Cherryburst Records. The album is "all-instrumental, all-guitar, all the time" and samples several vintage guitars from Rocky's personal collection. It also features guest appearances by long-time friend and fellow Texan Smokin' Joe Kubek and an exclusive performance by John Mayall on keyboards,
In 2015, the ultimate, commemorative Rocky Athas series was released, highlighting Rocky's most crowd-pleasing solo work. Also included are never-before-released bonus tracks paying homage to artists who influenced him, like Eric Clapton and Leslie West. The release of The Essential Rocky Athas - Volume I & II is hailed globally by critics as "a delectable album tailor-made for the blues enthusiast" filled with "delicious howling guitar riffs".
Don't miss this authentic Texas guitar legend and former Bluesbreaker!
