Jason Ricci & New Blood - Live at Checkers Tavern (2005)
Jason Ricci & New Blood
"Live At Checkers Tavern" is a jam where Ricci literally "blows" the doors. A unique young harmonica player avoids the traditional blues themes in songwriting, and yet his play shows great knowledge and respect for the classics. At age 21, Ricci won the Sonny Boy Blues Society and performed at the King Biscuit Blues Festival.

Barry Rillera - From Where I Stand (2005)
Barry Rillera
Electric blues, strong grooves for both listening & dancing. Features Barry's lead guitar in traditional, R & B, and funk-styled blues.Original music drawn from his many influences from playing with groups such as Ray Charles, White Trash & many others.
Barry Rillera is a music vet in the truest sense of the word. After graduating college and teaching grammar school for two years, he went on the road with two hometown friends, The Righteous Brothers, and never looked back.
In a touring career with The Righteous Brothers which spanned some 30 years, he served as their lead guitarist, bandleader and tour manager.
During some quiet periods in their career, Barry took time off to tour with two bands of which he was particularly proud - Ray Charles (1 year) and the Southern R&B/ Rock Group, White Trash.
He also recorded with Ray Charles amongst many others, and did an album with Jerry LaCroix & White Trash for Columbia.
But, his heart has always been with the blues ever since he first learned to play by listening to B. B. King 78 records. This opened his mind to the possibilities the electric guitar had in store for the changing music scene at that time.
Barry has stopped touring as a sideman for other singers, to pursue a solo career, firmly believing he has something to offer.
Barry continues to follow his passions, which are performing live and writing more blues material.

Ray Fuller and The Bluesrockers - Pearlene (1997)
Ray Fuller
RAY FULLER from New Albany Ohio, was given his first guitar at the age of 8, a Gibson Melody Maker. At an early age, Fuller was inspired by the British Invasion; Rolling Stones, Yardbirds and the Animals bands. Fuller’s first Blues album he ever heard was John Mayall and the Blues Breakers featuring Eric Clapton. “I could tell good blues guitar when I heard it…it was different.”
Fuller’s passion for the Blues was fueled with the discovery of the original Blues greats; John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, BB King, Elmore James. Young Ray Fuller was especially fond of John Lee Hooker.
The Ray Fuller Band was formed in 1974, evolving into Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers in 1978; releasing a self titled album on vinyl and Fuller has not looked back since. Mastering his craft throughout the 80’s and 90’s, Fuller was quick to become the “go to act” throughout Ohio to open for iconic Blues musicians such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Albert Collins to name a few.
MUDDY WATERS after witnessing an opening act performance by Ray Fuller on slide guitar exclaimed for all to hear “That was some hot slide boy! I could smell the smoke backstage!
JOHN LEE HOOKER was so impressed with the band and their performance that he took Ray and his entire band and the John Lee Hooker band out to dinner and picked up the tab. He then invited Ray Fuller to be his special guest at his next show 100 miles away the very next day!
These opportunities to hang out and learn at the feet of the masters were not wasted on young Ray. He paid close attention to every pearl of wisdom and every nasty riff and blues lick generously shown to him as an eager student of the blues.
In 1989 Fuller began touring as far west as Colorado, south to Florida and north to Michigan and New York. Fuller released “Damn Guitars” in 1989 which was quick to become a top seller for Rounder Records; followed by “Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers Live” in 1992.
Touring paused with the end of Fuller’s marriage which ended in true blues fashion in 1995. This break up inspired many great songs, still receiving airplay today. Fuller went on to release “Pearlene” in 1997; Twist of Fate in 1999 and in 2003 “Live Rockin’ the Blues.”
With new determination in 2009 Fuller pressed on. In 2010, Fuller played his first overseas show at the Vodacom Ampitheatre in Port Elizabeth South Africa, donating all proceeds to a local South African friend/fellow musician whose daughter was fighting a life threatening illness.
Under new management in 2010, Fuller began focusing on his passion for slide guitar, playing in his own style which has been compared to and inspired by Elmore James, Hound Dog Taylor and even Earl Hooker (cousin of John Lee Hooker). Fuller found himself in demand with renewed focus on his unique style of “Rockin’ Slide Guitar Blues”; playing major Blues Festivals in both USA, Canada and Europe!
Coming full circle from being a young musician/painter straight out of Columbus College of Art & Design opening up for the great Buddy Guy, Ray Fuller is now a Saturday night Headliner at the world famous Buddy Guy’s Legends, Chicago IL! In-fact, Fuller had the honor and rare privilege of recording Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers “LIVE at Buddy Guy’s Legends” with Mr. Buddy Guy in attendance! “LIVE at Buddy Guy’s Legends” CD was released April 15, 2014 and spent 16 months on the RMR Blues and Rock Charts!
In 2014 and 2016 Ray Fuller crisscrossed Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and France, with audiences demanding as many as FIVE ENCORES-venues packed to the gills-leaving fans screaming-stomping-chanting-demanding more at every show!
Ray Fuller’s immediate focus is on bringing his unique “Rockin’ Slide Guitar Blues” to Blues Festivals and major Blues venues throughout USA, Canada, Europe and beyond; putting on high energy, dynamic performances full of fire and energy audiences won’t soon forget!

Robert Cray - That's What I Heard (2020)
Robert Cray
That’s What I Heard is the 20th studio long player by Robert Cray, the latest in one of contemporary blues’ strongest catalogs, and once again, Cray left production up to drummer Steve Jordan. That seems to be a slam-dunk call when you look at the job Jordan did on albums like Take Your Shoes Off , In My Soul and my favorite late-period Cray, Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm.
As before, Jordan lets Cray be Cray and everything his fans love about him, whether it’s that recognizable soul croon, those vicious guitar licks or an underrated rhythm guitar attack mated to songs that were crafted with care. Jordan’s touches are found on the margins, whether it’s nonintrusive horn charts or placing the organ just so in the mix, making it easy to listen to this album for what Cray’s music does to your soul, not for what Jordan does to Cray’s music.
Like Hi Rhythm, That’s What I Heard has a good deal of covers, and there are only five Cray originals in this batch of twelve songs. But all of these tunes are likely to be “new to you” as the covers are obscure gems. The Robert Cray Band returns after the Hi Rhythm guys subbed for them on the last album: original Cray Band bassist Richard Cousins, along with Dover Weinberg (keyboards) and Terence F. Clark (drums), with Jordan adding drums and percussion in spots.
The blues stomper “Anything You Want” or the soul ballads “Promises You Can Keep” and “To Be With You” — a song Cray penned for his just-passed friend Tony Joe White — could have been put smack in the middle of Strong Persuader or Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark without disturbing those signature albums’ vibes, but as Cray is apt to remind you, blues is just one ingredient in his stew. Gospel — not gospel-influenced, but real, little-church-in-backwoods-Alabama gospel — is how “Burying Ground” is played. Here, his guitar is nowhere to be heard, but he is testifying convincingly just with his still-stirring voice.
“You’re the One” was the B-side to Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “Turn On Your Love Light” hit single, and Cray stays pretty faithful to the 1961 original, though Clark’s brushes and Cray’s rhythm guitar give the song a subtle kick. Echoes of classic Motown adorn “You’ll Want Me Back,” one of many 60s songs Curtis Mayfield wrote Major Lance.
A prowling backbeat paces the dark funky soul of “This Man,” a veiled broadside at Donald Trump and essentially a jam that sets the stage for Cray’s guitar goodness. On another Cray original, a swinging rock and roll rhythm propels the irresistible “Hot.” “Can’t Make Me Change” has a cool, jazzy strut about it, but Cray never lets go of the blues at the core of the song and his richly satisfying guitar solo assures that it’s going to stay that way.
The very title of Don Gardner’s “My Baby Likes to Boogaloo” makes no bones about Cray’s love for 60’s Latin RnB, but the Cuban percussion is traded in for Cray’s dirty fuzz guitar lines. The early 70’s Detroit club scene receives a nod with Billy Sha-Rae’s “Do It.” It fades in as a flat-out foot-stomping, kick drum-driven jam, Cray and his band letting their hair down on a tune that doesn’t need a formal song structure because it’s fueled by passion and some extra guitar provided by Ray Parker, Jr.
After nearly 40 years, Robert Cray remains as viable as ever. In a world turned upside down, his music continues to serve as comfort food for the soul.

Kingsnakes - Number One (1999)
Kingsnakes
Number one' is the Kingsnakes' debut [2000]. It earned these musicians lots of rave reviews, and they deserve nothing less. The growling voice of singer Sven is the most striking ingredient of the Kingsnakes-sound. He is a worthy harp-player too, and his wailing harmonica-solos are a real treat. Eric [drums] and Rob [bass] put up a good show themselves. A great rhythm-section, complemented by André with his unwavering guitarchops and solid leadparts. There are two guests, on piano and sax, who enliven a couple of tracks. The CD features mostly shuffles in a variety of styles, and there is only one slower blues, which happens to be my personal favourite. The band recorded two originals that are performed with ripping intensity, but the twelve tightly played covers really make this album worthwhile. Unfortunately, these guys only rock for 53 minutes.

Tim Barnes & The Five Grand Band - Sounds Like Money (2014)
Tim Barnes
Today Tim has focused his efforts on a hot new band of world class musicians in their own right. Tim Barnes and The Five Grand Band features monster bassist Dan Stanton, J. Hansen the exceptional drummer from Rick Estrin the Nightcats, and Chris Burns on Piano and B3 who has performed with everybody from Albert Collins to Maria Muldaur.
Tim Barnes and The Five Grand Band mark a new beginning for one of America's finest electric Rock n Roll Guitarists'.
At age 19, Tim gave a friend who worked at a local radio station some tapes of his music. Stoneground took off when he was just 21. Stoneground's first gig was opening for Albert King, starting out as a power trio from Concord, CA. Later Tim and Stoneground joined forces with Sal Valentino, Cory Lerios (later of Pablo Cruise) and Steve Price as they toured Europe for a second time. Annie Sampson, an original vocalist for Stoneground continued to work with Tim when the group brought on new members Jo Baker (from Elvin Bishop Group), Sammy Piazza (Hot Tuna) and Fred Webb (It's A Beautiful Day) along with Terry Davis on Bass. Now a 10 piece band, Stoneground did five albums with Warner Brothers and 9 albums overall. In 1993, Tim joined Mick Martin & The Blues Rockers after a fun stint with The Blue Flames. Tim and Mick played their first gig at The Crest Theatre with Buddy Guy and John Mayall. Mick and Tim did a lot of songwriting and recording together and toured Europe a couple of times playing to American Blues fans wherever they went.

Dave Chavez Band - Sharp Like a Knife (2013)
Dave Chavez Band
Dave Chavez is an urban rhythm & blues musician, who lives and plays the blues straight from the heart, and performs pure, raw and soulful rhythm & blues.
Over the last 30 years he proved to be the hottest bluesact from the Netherlands.
The Dave Chavez Band was finalist at ‘the Blues Challange’ (Blues Foundation NL) in 2013, was nominated for the ‘Best Blues Band Award’ in 2015 and for the ‘Best Blues Vocals Award’ 2016.
The opening number of the album is "Dirty C" and this is a shock, just like all the other songs are perfectly fine with the harmonica of "Slim Robin" van Roon. Eric Lipman plays bass and veteran Joost Tazelaar is the company's drummer. Finally lead singer Dave Chavez. He knows how to get good pointed solos from his Fender guitar and, as a singer, is surprisingly good at it. Especially on the two solo songs "Trouble In Mind" and "Ain't No Sunshine", he seems to have a warm voice with a pleasant timbre. Simplicity is the power of these numbers.
The third cover is "Walking To My Baby", written by Kim Wilson, which receives a slow and emotional performance with a great harp by Robin van Roon. The remaining work is in the hand "Sharp Like A Knife" is a captivating rocker. "Boogie Real Low", an exuberant song with a strong Bo Diddley rhythm, "Is everything okay?" on the other hand, it is pleasant, peaceful and relaxed. "Hungry Man" has also been on the demo of the same name since 1999, but it is still like a house in the new version.
We have a hollow crude product, produced at home, recommended for all Westcoast blues lovers with a touch of Texas style.
Tracklist:

John Campbell - One Believer (1991)
John Campbell
The Elektra debut by the late bluesman John Campbell is a curious affair in more than one respect-despite it's obvious excellence and original voice. The first is that he was signed at all. Clearly in 1990 when Campbell signed his deal, record company executives were still interested inn finding new and original talent and developing them over a period of time. One Believer was outside of virtually every trend on major labels and in pop at the time. Other than Chris Whitley's Living with the Law, it was the only roots record issued on a major label in 1991. The other thing is that One Believer is an oddity even for Campbell. It's a deeply atmospheric record full of subtle shimmering organs and warm guitar textures that accent the dreamy spooky side of the blues more than the crunchy stomp and roll that Campbell was known for in the clubs -- and displayed on his follow-up Howlin' Mercy. Tracks like "Angel of Sorrow," "World of Trouble," and "Wild Streak" offer shimmering ambient textures from which the blues emanate from the ether, tonally and melodically challenging all acceptable notions of what Texas blues should sound like -- but then, Mr. Campbell was living and working in New York and his music was certainly influenced by that late-night environment. These are beautiful songs, tempered in shadow and restraint while baring their teeth at all the right moments. Other places the roadhouse magic comes out of the closet as on "Couldn't Do Nothin'," "Devil In My Closet," and "Person to Person. On "Voodoo Edge," the slowhand blues meets a crisscross New Orleans second-line backbeat a la Dr. John and comes up with chunky honky-tonk piano and shakers to give the piece an "I Walk on Gilded Splinters feel, extending Campbell's sound over a deeper, darker shade of roots music. This in underlined by the album's last two tracks -- "Take Me Down" and the title track -- which are menacing in their conviction and creepy swampy in execution. This is a fine, fine debut that remains in print.

Magic Slim & The Teardrops - Blue Magic (2002)
Magic Slim
Magic Slim (Morris Holt) is best known for carrying on the Windy City tradition of back-to-the-basics blues bar bands, blasting out a quintessential sound that the music's legends would appreciate and that its newest fans can still enjoy. With Blue Magic, Holt and the Teardrops take a few steps outside their home turf for a New York City session with several surprises. Although most of the material is Holt's, the new album features several conspicuous exceptions, such as an intriguing attempt at country legend Merle Haggard's "I Started Loving You Again." But it's producer Popa Chubby's updating of the Bobby Rush gem "Chickenheads," popularized by Holt's fellow Chicago stalwart Mighty Joe Young, that is the most adventurous experiment. With the band sitting out, Popa Chubby takes over all the rhythm duties and adds sampled loops to the mix. Its reconfiguration is counterbalanced by the group's experienced, no-nonsense take on the Howlin' Wolf classic "How Many More Years." Magic Slim's trademark guitar vibrato is similarly balanced by his gruff vocals and the Teardrops, minus brother Nick Holt but still including guitarist Michael Dotson, consistently demonstrate themselves capable of transforming any studio or stage into a first-class Chicago blues bar.

Blues Beatles - Let It Blues (2020)
Blues Beatles
Blues Beatles started during the breaks of the rehearsals of Today – an original band that Marcos Viana, Flavio Naves, Bruno Falcão and Fred Barley started in 2012. Marcos, the singer, would invariably pick up his acoustic guitar and start playing Beatles songs. The other members of the band were amazed at how natural the songs sounded, as if he had written them himself. Being blues players the rest of the band started adding their blues twist to these “break songs”.
The first version of the Beatles songs that caught people’s attention was A Hard Days Nigh The video has now more than two million views on Facebook. The band has worked and reworked many different songs since it was formed, but only the ones that sound natural to their ears stay in the repertoire. The arrangements combine blues and soul grooves that suit the vocals of the songs while adding a different feel to them. Instrumental solos and improvisation, typical elements of the blues, are an integral part of the Blues Beatles style. Their fiery live performances showcase their individual and collective skills as soloists.
