Bryan LeeLee was born on March 16, 1943, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, United States, and completely lost his eyesight by the age of eight. His avid interest in early rock and blues was fostered through the 1950s by late night listening sessions via the Nashville-based radio station WLAC-AM, where he first encountered the sounds of Elmore James, Albert King and Albert Collins.
By his late teens, Lee was playing rhythm guitar in a regional band called The Glaciers that covered Elvis Presley, Little Richard and Chuck Berry material. Through the 1960s, Lee's interest turned to Chicago blues and he soon found himself immersed in that scene, opening for some of his boyhood heroes. In 1979 he released his first album named Beauty Isn't Always Visual.
In January 1982, Lee moved to New Orleans, eventually landing a steady gig at the Old Absinthe House on Bourbon Street becoming a favorite of tourists in the city's French Quarter. For the next 14 years, Lee and his Jump Street Five played five nights a week at that popular bar, developing a huge following and a solid reputation.
To the end of his life, Lee continued to perform in New Orleans. He also toured several times a year in the Midwest, Eastern Seaboard, Rocky Mountain States and recently Europe and Brazil. Lee appeared with Kenny Wayne Shepherd as the musical guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on February 14, 2007.
He died on August 21, 2020, at the age of 77.

Paul Plumeri's Blues BandWhen you've been playing guitar and singing the blues as long as Paul Plumeri, you learn to do things your own way.
Naturally, since he does things his own way, Plumeri's guitar playing and singing style are distinctive.
In a blues bar setting, where he's often called upon to play tunes that have been done to death -- a situation most blues musicians can relate to -- Plumeri [pronounced plum-er-rye] takes the standard, crowd-pleasing, familiar blues songs, items like Sweet Little Angel, The Thrill Is Gone, and Red House and makes these tunes completely his own.
Sweet Little Angel becomes a medley of B.B. King tunes, while T-Bone Walker's T-Bone Shuffle takes on a life of its own through Plumeri's creative arrangement of the tune.
For proof of Plumeri's technical facility as a guitarist and singer, one need only have a listen to his self-produced CD, The Bishop of the Blues. It opens with the shuffling instrumental, Get On With It, that is reminiscent of the great Texas blues guitar players, people like T-Bone Walker and even Jimmie Vaughan. Plumeri has an economy of style in his guitar playing. He may not play a lot of notes, and he's never overly-flashy, but he certainly plays the right notes, ones that strike a chord of understanding with his audiences.
The simple liner notes to Plumeri's debut CD indicate where this musician's head is at a lengthy description of the equipment he uses on various tracks......a 1964 Fender Stratocaster, a 1965 Stratocaster, 1966 vintage blackface Fender Bassman [amp] modified by George Allessandro through two Mesa Boogie single 12 speaker cabinets with 80 watt Celestian speakers. Fill-ins played through an early 1960s Ampeg Jet Amp. Picture on the cover is a 1959 tweed Bassman amp. Clearly, this is no ordinary bluesman playing the local shot-and-beer joints. One part technician, one part poet and one part guitar craftsman, Plumeri has been playing his own style of blues in and around Trenton and eastern Pennsylvania clubs for more than three decades.
He's been up and he's been down, but like any good bluesman, Plumeri perseveres. He remains optimistic about the future, like any good bluesman. Plumeri, the third son of the well-known, longtime Trenton-area politician and civil servant Sam Plumeri, began playing guitar at age seven. When we were kids, we would play any place they would listen, from my parents' living room when my brother would bring his friends over, to church things, to battles-of-the-bands and backyard parties, Plumeri recalls. I played with a drummer back then who was like four feet tall and very flashy, and his father was the type of guy who had him playing in bars, he recalls. As a seventh grader, I found myself going into dark Philadelphia clubs opening for bands like The Cyrkle.
I got to know the in's and out's of show business pretty early. While his drummer's father would shuttle them around to clubs, more than occasionally, Sam Plumeri Sr. would drive Paul and his bandmates out to the clubs. My dad, as busy as he was with local politics, would make it a point to bring me around to clubs when I was a kid, he recalls. Plumeri's uncle was a jazz booking agent and manager who worked with saxophonist Red Prysock and his brother, vocalist Arthur Prysock, organist Richard Groove Holmes and drummers Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. Plumeri has early memories of sitting three feet from Prysock and Grant Green in the Fantasy Lounge in Trenton on Sunday afternoons. He recalls how thrilled he was to get up and play guitar alongside Hammond B-3 organist Groove Holmes as a young teen.
Plumeri got hooked on the blues about a year after he began playing guitar, when he discovered blues on the radio in Trenton. Longtime Trenton-area DJ George Bannister played a role in sparking Plumeri's lifelong interest in blues and classic R&B. His opening song would be Bill Doggett's 'Honky Tonk,' and from there I was hooked. He'd play Sam & Dave, B.B. King and he'd play all the black instrumentals. I heard it and was enamored with it. After leading a succession of blues and rock bands through high school, he attended Mercer County Community College in the early 1970s.
At that time, the Trenton-area and New Jersey's clubs scene was still flourishing. Plumeri studied business but later dropped out. The monetary pressures were simply too great he recalls making upwards of $1,000 a week in Garden State and Philadelphia nightclubs in those days. Through the early and mid-1970s, Plumeri founded and led a band called Hoochie Cooch [taken from the Muddy Waters' song, Hoochie Coochie Man] and played in that band until 1976, when he joined keyboardist Duke Williams in his band, The Extremes. The band was later signed to Capricorn Records, home of the Allman Brothers, Delaney and Bonnie and countless other Southern roots-rock acts. With Williams and the Extremes, he toured the East Coast and most of Canada from 1976 until the end of 1980.
The money was good, but the band burnt itself out by the end of 1980. The first incarnation of the Paul Plumeri Blues Band made its debut on a Sunday night in 1982 at a nightclub in Trenton, the night Plumeri's son was born. With a new addition to his family, a mortgage to pay, and the need for health insurance, he decided to change gears. He worked as a housing inspector for the city of Trenton. He still played blues at night and on weekends, as he does today.
For guitar players, everything is about tone, and Plumeri figures he started developing his own tone, and style, when he was still in high school. Somebody dug out tapes of me from the late 1960s from one of these cellar jams which were happening all the time, and this guy said, 'You know Paul, you can listen to that now and you can still tell it's you.' But my whole style developed because I was not a note-for-note copier. At the time, it was very frustrating, 'cause I wanted to play the whole solo on 'Crossroads' exactly as it was played. I would stylize it, I could sound like the player somewhat, but just couldn't do the note-for-note thing. That turned out to be my biggest asset, 'cause I didn't rely on that to be my vocabulary. I absorbed these people, he says, referring to guitar 'gods' like Eric Clapton and Duane Allman, but I would not mimic them to the ' T ' , he adds.
Plumeri has been associated with the blues in the Garden State and greater Philadelphia for more than three decades, and frankly, it's an affiliation he's not willing to let go of. He never compromised his artistry for the sake of commerce, in other words, when suddenly, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, blues fell out of fashion for awhile. That is, until Stevie Ray Vaughan came along and brought everyone back to their roots. I wasn't willing to leave my association of being a blues musician. I never became associated with some other trendy thing, I did not play top 40 music. Now, nearly two decades after the formation of the Paul Plumeri Blues Band, he presses on, and like any good bluesman, he's ready to seize the right opportunity, but not necessarily the first opportunity.

Bugs HendersonI used to watch Bugs perform in clubs in and around Dallas in the 1970's and loved his amazing performances - he was truly the "King of Greenville Avenue", and his blistering guitar work left the audience speechless. I bought this recording just for the sake of having a Bugs Henderson version of "Crippled Gnat Bounce". (The original recording is on Nitzinger's "One Foot In History" album.) It turns out that this is a very laid-back version of CNB, but great nonetheless. Bugs himself is much more laid-back these days, for that matter, at least in terms of his approach to the guitar, but this is still a great record for true fans of the Texas blues/boogie genre...

Felix Cabrera BandCuban-born vocalist/harmonicist Felix Cabrera and American guitarist/vocalist Jimmy Vivino are far from a combination of oil and water. Instead they blend well together in a cool mix that is sophisticated, soulful, and very mindful of the tradition of electric Chicago blues. Vivino is a talented player on his instrument, his licks spare but singeing, while vocally he's quite reminiscent of Johnny Winter. Cabrera comes out of the instrumental tradition of Big Walter Horton, Magic Sam, and Little Sonny, with a piercing yet clearly defined sound, while his silky-smooth voice can be favorably compared to Sugar Blue. Together they tear into a single set of enjoyable urban blues as recorded at the Turning Point in Piermont, NY, splitting up singing duties on a very interesting set of covers, classic blues standards, and some originals. One of the more heads-up choices is a ten-minute instrumental take of the Eddie Harris soul-jazz evergreen "Listen Here," as Cabrera's harmonica leads the way on this ultimate organ-fired Chi-Town street strutter. Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm" is also a good pick, as both Vivino and Cabrera add humorous vocal jive, musical refrains from the Champs' hit "Tequila," and even hip licks from "Manteca" to the roots rockin' song -- a sure hit. A classic blues like the steady-rolling 12-bar Howlin' Wolf tune "I Didn't Know," sung by Vivino, is a great warmup number for the band, while Paul Butterfield's "Lovin' Cup" is given an authentic treatment by Cabrera in a nonchalant, self-effaced statement, while the Sonny Boy Williamson perennial "Too Young to Die" is a blues shuffle with Vivino pleading his case to his maker. One of the lesser-known writers in the blues is Monk Higgins, whose slow-walking "Birds Nest on the Ground" might imply disaster, but instead Vivino admits the luck of the draw in finding a compatible woman, but then puts her down. Cabrera contributes "Animalism" in a funky organ groove courtesy of Eddie Bishai, the laconic "Self Argument in D Minor," and an upbeat Texas-style swinger, "Kid at Heart," all featuring his best work on the harmonica. James Oden's "Goin' Down Slow" gives Cabrera one last chance to showcase his vibrato-infused harp sound, and he more than delivers the goods. This is a very good recording, bordering on great if only it was a double-CD set, which would then give listeners a better indication of how extraordinary the compatible combination of Cabrera and Vivino truly is. Hopefully a follow-up, or second volume, is in order.

In hindsight, it’s clear Aynsley was born to be a musician. As a child he was hypnotised by his dad’s old guitar and at the age of eight was finally gifted his very own. The moment he held that first six-string the outcome was inevitable; he was going to be a guitarist. Blessed with the coolest dad in town, regularly spinning Hendrix, Cream, Fleetwood Mac and a whole host of bewitching blues for his spellbound son, Aynsley taught himself to play with relentless dedication and a precociously attuned ear, spending hours copying his favourite records note for note. Peter Green, Albert King, Clapton and Kossoff weren’t just his heroes; they became his teachers.
Blazing a trail in a bar band from the age of 13 honed his skills. By 18 he’d started singing and had also formed his first group, during which time he landed a dream support slot with Buddy Guy and released two low key CD’s featuring his earliest original material. In 1998 those self-penned titles caught the attention of Ruf Records owner Thomas Ruf, who immediately signed Aynsley and hooked him up with Stevie Ray Vaughan’s producer Jim Gaines.
With a maturity that belied his years, the self titled debut announced Aynsley Lister as a major new talent and kicked off a successful relationship with Ruf Records, releasing 7 albums and 2 DVD’s in ten years. Their influence, coupled with his dynamite live shows and an intense touring schedule, earned high profile support slots with established artists like Walter Trout, John Mayall and Robert Cray, whilst rousing festival appearances alongside artists like the Fun Lovin’ Criminals cemented his standing as an artist whose work, although rooted in blues, transcended the genre with a fiery modern sound that was eagerly embraced by fans of rock, pop, soul and acoustic music alike. In 2007 Aynsley was the only British artist to be named in Classic Rock magazine’s “Top 10 Contemporary Blues Artists”, alongside John Mayer, Derek Trucks and Joe Bonamassa.
In 2008 Aynsley’s huge crossover potential then saw him sign to Manhaton Records, where he released his ‘Equilibrium’ and ‘Tower Sessions’ albums. Produced by Steve Darrel Smith and featuring Paul McCartney guitarist Robbie Macintosh, 2009’s ‘Equilibrium’ exposed Lister in his best ever form, throwing all his musical influences into a delicious melting pot that delivered sultry melodies, full throttle hard rock riffage and introspective ballads. ‘Equilibrium’ received fantastic reviews and stormed into Classic Rock’s Top 50 Albums of 2009. The subsequent tour saw Aynsley playing to sold out shows to over 16,000 people whilst opening for the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd, after which he and his band relocated to the Tower Arts Centre and with the tape rolling, nailed a cracking rendition of their high-octane live set to produce the storming ‘Tower Sessions’ record, which was consequently voted ‘Best Live Album’ in the 2011 Blues Matters Writers Poll.
In 2013, Aynsley then completely bucked the trend and moved away from the traditional format, going into partnership with his wife, Stephanie Lister, and launching their own record label, Straight Talkin’ Records. The pair have since released two of the most successful albums of Aynsley’s career under their own steam. ‘Home’, released in 2013, garnered the guitar ace the ‘Songwriter of the Year’ award at the British Blues Awards and ‘Eyes Wide Open’, released on October 7 2016, saw him confidently pursuing his own musical path. Self-assured, inventive and richly-textured, Aynsley brings his 18 years of hard touring, 11 album releases (eight studio and three live) and all his experience as a musician to fruition on Eyes Wide Open.

Cub KodaThe addition of bass and special guests Left Hand Frank and Lefty Dizz only distract from the chemistry between Cub and the Houserockers (even more obvious on their belated live follow-up), but this is a strong session, with the ex-stadium boogie boy sounding totally at home with these blues veterans. His vocal duet with Brewer Phillips on J.B. Lenoir's "Talk to Your Daughter" is a joy, and thankfully not every note is perfectly in place -- or in the case of Brewer's guitar, in tune. Added treats: Koda's big-toned harp on "Rockin' This Joint Tonight" and humorous dialog with Frank on "Dirty Duck Blues."

Jimmy Morello A powerful vocalist and super-quick drummer, Jimmy Morello began playing drums at age 11 and formed his first band at 13. His vocal style has been influenced by great blues shouters like Roy Brown, Big Joe Turner and Jimmy Rushing. His mother's record collection had an impact on him in his early years, vocal groups like the Platters, the Drifters, the Coasters, and others. He fell in love with blues music after attending a revue concert in 1971 with Ray Charles, T-Bone Walker and Jimmy Reed. Shortly after this, he befriended a Pittsburgh DJ who introduced him to Louisiana Red. Red took a shine to Morello's band, Cold Steel, and the two began working together regularly in Pittsburgh blues venues. After becoming a tight working unit, they hit the road, playing Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston and other cities around the Northeast.
After Red left for Europe in 1980, Morello moved to Sacramento, California to join the Blue Flames. By 1989, Morello moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he hooked up with the Rocket 88s, playing drums and singing with that band for four years. After leaving the Rocket 88s, Morello toured with former Muddy Waters guitarist "Steady Rollin'" Bob Margolin. Returning to Phoenix, he put together his own band, the Stingrayz, which featured his drum kit front and center, so he could sing and play drums simultaneously, much the same way Doyle Bramhall does.
Morello recorded two albums with Dallas-based guitarist Pat Boyack (with whom he had worked in the Rocket 88s) for Rounder's Bullseye Blues label. More road work followed those two mid-1990s releases, and finally in 1997, Morello got his own album, showcasing his own songs and singing, on the London-based JSP Records. Titled Can't Be Denied, it features Morello's kinetic drumming and powerful blues shouter-styled vocals. He dedicated the album to some of his mentors: Big Al Smith, Roy Brown, Big Joe Turner and William Clarke.
Here's a disc that will satisfy fans of postwar blues. Jimmy Morello and his hot band cook up a smorgasboard of blues delights covering different styles from the '40s and '50s, all with enthusiasm and authenticity. They pay homage to Roy Brown and Big Joe Turner's jump blues and Ike Turner's down-in-the-alley strolling blues, just to mention a couple. Each of the 12 songs (all originals) is strong, and everybody digs in. Morello loves to shout, and he's quite good. He does a credible imitation of Turner on one cut. Almost all of the lead guitar work is handled with aplomb by the talented Alex Schultz. He's one of the most tasteful guitarists around and is always a pleasure to listen to. The band is fleshed out on some cuts by the Almighty Horns, who fill out the sound and help create that tasty postwar ambience. A fine disc all-around.

Hobo Blues BandIn April 1978, the Hobo Blues Band was formed in a pub on Lajos Street.
According to Hobo, this is a hobby band whose members at the time were: László Szakács (drums), János Gecse (bass guitar), József Kőrös (guitar), László Földes (vocals).
The first Hobo Blues Band concert took place in the summer at the Lőrinci Youth Park, and in November Egon Póka joined the band, inspired by the band.
As a result of the change of members, they joined: Dezső Döme (drums), János Szénich (guitar), József Kőrös (guitar). One year after its establishment, in 1979, the former permanent guest, Bill Gyula Deák, also joined.
Two years later, the band opened a club at FMH and then released the band’s first and only singles. They start shooting the film Bald Dog, directed by György Szomjas, and their first album, Central European Hobo Blues, is released.
As a bonus, the album's CD release features remixed audio from HBB's first and only singles.
