Jeremy Spencer - Boundless (2021)

 Among the highlights of Fleetwood Mac's early days was the music the band made in the formation of three guitars, which resulted in beautiful songs like Albatross, Man Of The World and Oh Well. Like his two teammates (Peter Green and Danny Kirwan), Jeremy Spencer didn't end well.



Although Peter Green was the first to give up in 1970 ("Peter should never have taken acid. He was charming, fun and just a wonderful person, but he left and never came back," Mick Fleetwood later recalled), Spencer followed Green's in February 1971 he led an example when he joined a religious sect, the Sons of God, now known as the Family International, of which he is still a member.





Even so, Jeremy Spencer has always continued to make music and this year resulted in the Boundless album. In the first few tones you immediately recognize Fleetwood Mac's Albatross sound with that clear slide sound of former Elmore James supporter Spencer. But Jeremy Spencer no longer has the blues, luckily because he seems to be in the fold of the Family International.



'Boundless' is an album filled with relaxed instrumental guitar and folk songs that Jeremy Spencer proves to be an excellent guitarist. The blues is never far away and can be heard in songs like Harpin 'It On, Engraved and Facing The Music.



In that respect, Jeremy Spencer fared much better than Green (died 2020) and Kirwan (died 2018, after a lifetime of mental health problems and addictions).



'Boundless' became a very relaxed guitar album.

The Kingsnakes - Ultrasound (1991)

 The Chicago Kingsnakes were formed in 1983 by guitarist / vocalist James “Ang” Anderson. He started playing guitar at the age of 8 on a homemade instrument crafted from a cigar box, rubber bands and thumb tacks. A lifelong resident of Chicago, he received his musical education on the city's infamous south side, at the Checkerboard lounge, and Theresa’s, where he played with the likes of guitar greats Buddy Guy, Lefty Dizz and Son Seals, harmonica legends James Cotton and Junior Wells and the Queen of The Blues, Koko Taylor.

James has toured the nation with Sun, Chess, Bobbin, Stax and Malaco recording artist Little Milton. Anderson also played guitar with Johnny Twist's Rocka-Boogie Blues Band touring the Midwest for many years.

In 1992 The Kingsnakes befriended Byther Smith. The band has become "Smitty's" road band and has accompanied him on tours of the United States, Finland, The Netherlands and Canada. In addition they played on Byther's "I'm A Mad Man" CD on the Bullseye record label. On June 5th 1994 Byther Smith and The Kingsnakes performed on the Main Stage of the 11th Annual Chicago Bluesfest in Grant Park. This friendship is sustained by occasional tours with Byther.

In 1998 The Kingsnakes released a CD of original material entitled "Blues Island" . The disk was very well received by the press. Blues Revue, a national blues magazine, called Blues Island "Essential". Chicagoland's, The Beat, said "Blues Island magnificently captures the live feel and heart of blues in a studio setting".

In 2003, the band released “Grass Roots” an all acoustic CD. Blues On Stage called the disc, “An unplugged gem”, and went on to say, “this has all the elements of a Southern afternoon front porch jam and party with everything but the sound of friends whooping it up while dancing in the yard.” The Illinois Entertainer called the disc, “a fine down home effort.”
In 2008 The band released "Holiday Boogie" a CD of Holiday music featuring 4 original songs and 4 classic covers,and in  2009 The band released "SNAPSHOTS"m a 6 song live recording.

The Kingsnakes released “Blue Mosaic” in 2011, featuring 12 new compositions by Anderson to critical acclaim worldwide.

In 2012 The band was selected to kick-off the Chicago Blues Festival.  This performance was featured on ABC7 news.

June 2016, the band  released ” South Side Soul”  featuring 10 original R & B Songs.

The Kingsnakes are poised to carry the blues torch into the 21st century by staying true to the music's traditions as well as writing new material to reflect the blues of today and tomorrow.

Jo Hell - Jo Hell (2008)

 Born and raised in Montreal he began his career playing locally before moving to the USA and finding a base in Austin, Texas. Jo Hell and his band arrived in 2006 to play the SXSW festival. They became the house band at the Nuno's on 6th Blues Club and were also featured at the Red, White, And Blues Festival at Waterloo Park in July of 2006. While performing frequently in the Live Music Capital of the World in famous venues like Antone's, the band hit the road around Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and California merging their unstoppable Montreal roots with the deep-south sounds and it's rich musical culture.

In 2009, the Jo Hell Band traveled to Belgium to headlining the "Pjeireblues Festival" performing for the first time in Europe. Returning to Canada they perform for the third time at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Jo Hell remained based in Texas until 2018 playing the local circuit and performing several venues across USA, Canada and Europe. During his career Jo Hell has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with great blues and rock legends such as Pine Top Perkins, Hubert Sumlin', Buddy Miles, Gary Clark Jr, Frank Hannon, Gary Busey among many others.

Jo Hell has released several albums such as South Side and self-titled Jo Hell, both recorded at the renown Victor Studio in Montreal, Live In Belgium recorded during Pjeireblues Festival,  Rockin' Land recorded at the Boiler Room Studio, Still Alive, and the latest movie soundtrack project entitled Shotgun Love with the single Bullet Back all recorded in Austin. Recently he has moved back to his hometown Montréal and is soon releasing his first ever french rock & blues album entitled Retour aux Racines.

Along the years Jo Hell's signature performances and high energy Blues Rock music have become a proven formula that always gets audiences engaged and captivates fans from all over the globe.

John Dee Holeman - John Dee Holeman and the Waifs Band (2006)

 Fans of Piedmont blues as performed by the likes of the late John Jackson and John "Bowling Green" Cephas will like the guitar and vocal stylings of John Dee Holeman, who has several recordings that are readily available. Holeman has been based in Durham, North Carolina since 1954. Over the years, tobacco city Durham has been home to a prominent list of bluesmen, including people like Rev. Gary Davis, Arthur Lyons, and Blind Boy Fuller. Holeman has updated the older Durham acoustic Piedmont blues traditions to include elements of urban blues, Texas blues, classic R&B, and jazz. Holeman was born in Orange County in 1929 and began singing and picking guitar as a 14-year-old. He cites Blind Boy Fuller as the musician who taught him how to play -- he learned guitar from listening to Fuller's recordings and by performing with musicians who had learned first-hand from Fuller. Later, as a teen, he began entertaining at birthday parties, wood choppings, house rent parties, and corn shuckings. Once in Durham, he began performing with pianist Fris Holloway (born in 1918), and both men were also excellent buckdancers.

Holeman received a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1988 and a North Carolina Heritage Award in 1994, and he still performs frequently in and around North Carolina on weekends. He toured nationally and internationally in the 1980s, giving concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York and Wolf Trap in Washington, D.C. He has performed abroad for the United States' Information Agency's Arts America program. In 1988, Holeman recorded the album Bull Durham Blues with Grammy Award-winning musician Taj Mahal, who played guitar, bass, piano, and hambone on the album. Holeman's other releases include John Dee Holeman & the Waifs Band and You Got to Lose, You Can't Win All the Time. He also has an album on the Washington, D.C.-based Mapleshade Records label, John Dee Holeman and Sunnyland Slim: Blues Legends Live. His Bull Durham Blues was reissued on Music Maker Relief Foundation Records, based in North Carolina, in 1999.

Steve Thorpe - Trouble (2004)

 Born in Kentucky, Steve Thorpe is currently living on the East Coast of Florida in the U.S.A.
Steve is a straight-ahead aggressive blues guitar player and singer. Even though known for his hard hitting Chicago/Texas style, Steve will occasionally pull out a dobro and do a set of his favorite delta songs if the mood hits and the crowd is right.
All blues, all the time...except when Todd Taylor calls and says bring a dobro and lets do some pickin'. Steve grew up in Eastern Kentucky listening to bluegrass his entire childhood. Steve says that bluegrass style dobro is what led him ultimately to the blues.
He has been a fixture in the Melbourne Area music scene for 20+ years, and has had his own Blues band for the past 10 years called " Steve Thorpe and the Blues Orchestra." He has released 2 CD's, "Trouble," and the latest being "Live, Down and Dirty," which was released July of 2006.

Jay Moeller - Bust 'em Up (2019)

 "Bust 'Em Up" (2019) is an independent solo release released by one of the Texas bluesmen (Austin), the Moeller brothers, who is Jay (more correctly - Jason), and he is the drummer. Second, the guitarist's older brother, named Johnny, and together they are the late 90's were the duo of A Moeller Bros.



The two Moeller brothers have been active performers in their hometown Austin music scene for some time, and from 2007 to 2016 they played in legendary local blues-rock band The Fabulous Thunderbirds, formed in 1974.

 As a continuation of the band "Laid back", the band "Puzzle Blues Band" was formed in 1999 and was founded by Slobodan Furtinger, guitar and Zoran Haramincic, bass guitar. Along with them, the line-up consists of Zoran Viceban, solo guitar, Hrvoje Šolic guitar and Robert Jurcec-Muha, drums. In 2004, they recorded material for the album "PBB - live in Zagreb", which was never released. They perform at various festivals and club gigs, mostly based on blues - rock expression. In 2013, they finally released a live album with recordings from various clubs during the years of performance. There is also one author's song on the album, Life is a tear, after which the album is named.

3 Balls Of Fire - Friday Night At Ego's Lounge (2000)

 Based in both Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, CA - 3 Balls of Fire, AKA The Men with the Burning Guitars, was formed in 1987 by guitarist/composer/band leader Burnin' Mike Vernon. Vernon and joined his first band, Stoned Catsup, in Arlington, Texas, in 1969. From '73-'75 Mike studied Spanish guitar at the Univ. of Texas-El Paso and then returned to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area where he played in various jazz, blues, rock, and western bands. During this time he had the opportunity to sit in with such greats as Freddie King, Big Joe Turner, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Gary Duncan of the Quicksilver Messenger Service.

In '79 he formed the instrumental group Perry Mason & the Defendants and cut two 45's for the Mars label. The group played all over the north Texas area, Louisiana and Oklahoma. By '82 the band's sound turned decidedly surf in nature as the band performed surf guitar songs from the '60's and originals by Vernon.

In 1985, Vernon moved to Austin and in 1987 formed 3 Balls of Fire. Joining in on bass and drums was Vic Gerrard and Chris Stix Staples, forming the tightly-wound rhythm section on the Balls' self-titled debut recording on Amazing Records in 1987.

In 1989, Gerard and Staples joined Two Hoots and a Holler, and Vernon kept the group alive by adding Jackie Newhouse (Stevie Ray Vaughan's bassist until 1980) Steve Fulton on guitar & drums, and a revolving list of stellar players from the Austin area. In the early '90's, the group released two cassettes, toured from Louisiana to California, had their music featured in the movie Good Girl, Bad Girl, and opened for Dick Dale's first national tour in Austin in 1993.

The original lineup of 3 Balls of Fire reunited in 1998 and released The Best of the Balls, 1988-1998 CD to critical acclaim. After two years of regular Friday night gigs at Ego's Lounge, they released the Friday Night at Ego's Lounge CD on Austin's Deep Eddy Records in January 2000. The Austin Chronicle listed the album in the Texas top ten of 2000. The same year saw the band do a tour with George Tomsco, backing the legendary guitarist for the Fireballs. In June 2001, Nokie Edwards of the Ventures toured select Texas cities with the Balls as his backing band!

The Balls released their FirePower CD in 2002, Chrome & Water in 2004 and Jet Set Guitars in 2008. All of the Balls' Cds have landed in several top ten of the year lists. Firepower was followed by the FirePower Express tour in summer 2002, and several cuts from the CD appeared on national tv (WB, FOX), NPR, three surf compilations, two surfing videos and Muzack!!! The Shock-n-Awe tour of 2003 was a smashing sucsess, and 2004 saw the release of Chrome & Water and several west coast appearances. In 2005, legendary guitaristc Link Wray hand-picked Vernon to share guitar duties at the Ponderosa Stomp in New Orleans. With appearances in New York and London,emmy-winnning television credits and the prestigeous Austin Music Awards in '06, the Balls rolled into 2007 full-steam ahead. In 2008, the band won Best Instrumental Band in the Austin Chronicle and released their seventh album, Jet Set Guitars. That same year, Vernon moved 3 Balls of Fire's headqurters to Los Angeles where he showcased his ever-changing West Coast Offense, which featured some of LA's finest players and that added a new slant on the Balls overall sound. In 2013, Vernon put together a new, tougher version of the band featuring Ted Hamer on piano, Doug Synder on bass and Chris Roberts on drums - it just might be the best 3BF yet! 2020 is going to be very groovy with a new tour and other exciting news...please stay tuned!!

John Dee Holeman - You Got To Lose You Can t Win All The Time (2008)

 Fans of Piedmont blues as performed by the likes of the late John Jackson and John "Bowling Green" Cephas will like the guitar and vocal stylings of John Dee Holeman, who has several recordings that are readily available. Holeman has been based in Durham, North Carolina since 1954. Over the years, tobacco city Durham has been home to a prominent list of bluesmen, including people like Rev. Gary Davis, Arthur Lyons, and Blind Boy Fuller. Holeman has updated the older Durham acoustic Piedmont blues traditions to include elements of urban blues, Texas blues, classic R&B, and jazz. Holeman was born in Orange County in 1929 and began singing and picking guitar as a 14-year-old. He cites Blind Boy Fuller as the musician who taught him how to play -- he learned guitar from listening to Fuller's recordings and by performing with musicians who had learned first-hand from Fuller. Later, as a teen, he began entertaining at birthday parties, wood choppings, house rent parties, and corn shuckings. Once in Durham, he began performing with pianist Fris Holloway (born in 1918), and both men were also excellent buckdancers.

Holeman received a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1988 and a North Carolina Heritage Award in 1994, and he still performs frequently in and around North Carolina on weekends. He toured nationally and internationally in the 1980s, giving concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York and Wolf Trap in Washington, D.C. He has performed abroad for the United States' Information Agency's Arts America program. In 1988, Holeman recorded the album Bull Durham Blues with Grammy Award-winning musician Taj Mahal, who played guitar, bass, piano, and hambone on the album. Holeman's other releases include John Dee Holeman & the Waifs Band and You Got to Lose, You Can't Win All the Time. He also has an album on the Washington, D.C.-based Mapleshade Records label, John Dee Holeman and Sunnyland Slim: Blues Legends Live. His Bull Durham Blues was reissued on Music Maker Relief Foundation Records, based in North Carolina, in 1999.

 The late fifties to the early seventies was perhaps the best era of all musically for me. I've tried to capture the brilliant colours, themes, and sounds of some of those times that I experienced in life, on the radio, on the turntable, on TV and at the movies, with this set of songs, both originals and favourites. It was a great time in my life, and the songs recorded here hopefully reflect things that happened in life to all of us growing up in that period.

Thank you to the boys..jim, josh, and andy (and the dogs).. what a band!

This record is dedicated to the late hubert sumlin who showed me what a man should be, and how a guitar should sound.

 Not to be confused with other The Kingsnakes. These The Kingsnakes are the real The Kingsnakes. No ballads, just blues rock and boogie. John Lee Hooker has recruited The Kingsnakes as an escort group on several occasions. "I'm proud that they named their band after one of my songs," he said. This CD is compiled from the tracks of the first two albums by Hardlife Boogie and Take A Chance, on CD unreleased, plus two tracks from the compilation Salt City Blues, Vol.1.

Tracks 1,2 are from the compilation album, Salt City Blues, Vol.1 Blue Wave#108 were recorded 1/88.
Tracks 3-11 are from the Hardlife Boogie flbum, Blue Wave#104 were recorded 2/86.
Tracks 12-19 are from Take A Chance album, Blue Wave#101 were recorded 2/85.
All tracks are prodused by Mark Doyl and were recorded live in the studio with no overdubs except track 15.
