Open Blues - Piec zlotych (2012)

                                                                Open Blues
The Toruń Open Blues band recorded the "Seta w ryja" album two years ago, now proposes "Five zlotys". It is therefore necessary to check whether this music numismat is worth more or less. You just have to want. Exactly - "You just have to want" is the song that opens the album. And immediately surprise. The team has clearly changed the sound. This time, the organs are moving forward, the vocalist does not disappoint, and what is important - Przemysław Losoś also gives advice as a harmonica player. And the whole song has really rock power - it's made for ... a rock pub.

Open Blues enjoys the ear because ... sings in Polish. Chicago and the title song "Five Golds" is, in turn, a nice piano and a good solo part of Igor Nowicki and choirs sung by the whole band. Wiesław Kryszewski starts the solo somewhat chaotically, but there is a proper blues content in the blues.

When the first bars of "Celebrities are spinning" begin, there is sometimes association with another nice Polish band - Zydeco Flow. But this is of course Open Blues and their slightly southern playing. More importantly, the vocalist Łosoś can do it, although the intensity of rustling collaborations in the lyrics is sometimes frightening. And again - keyboard player is great.

The band probably has inexhaustible energy. When he starts swinging "Why ask" - a smile appears on his face. Because despite the average lietracko, however socially just text, it is after all a riff as if taken out of the best times of the Sickness Fund. Great playing.

And then the Open Blues hits in the best Chicago style. A simple blues riff is the basis of the song "Who beats blues". Arrangement based on a classical vocalist's dialogue with a solo guitar and phrases as if written by Loebl, although Marek Modrzejewski signed the author. Here you can hear that the guitarist can play fun, and probably has his own style of building tension in solos.

"I think about it" is a slight slowdown. Open Blues sways listened to the rhythm of the words "you need to wake up in us". Very nice phrase and like showing that blues are not sad music. Especially that an incense bridge appears in the arrangement, and the vocalist accuses the singing of cliches in favor of harmonica playing.

In playing the guitar, Wiesław Kryszewski unleashes the most stupid song on the album - the song "The Camel". A well thought out guitar part, lots of energy to play and ridiculous, humorous text. It's hard.

And again, we return to a more classic understanding of the blues. "Powsinoga" does not close only in three chords. The band plays with harmony, and the organist pours the honey of black and white sounds straight into the ears again. And the harmonica riffs add a composition of additional fire.

"Just believe it" begins a very characteristic guitar patent, to which organs as a rhythmic instrument - I must admit that Open Blues makes sure that the listener gets bored with their album. Well, in this song Przemyslaw Łosoś sings probably the most at ease.

Open Blues loves Chicago the most - "All in first" is another song full of positive energy, which at the concert has a chance to sound even better. And of course, each of the musicians will find a place for solo. And it is better not to delve into uncomplicated texts - it is important that the song sways nice.

The disc ends with a surprising ballad by keyboardist Igor Nowicki. "You must remember" is a song in the atmosphere of blue eyed soul, composed without errors, but extremely difficult to play and interpret. And even though Przemysław Łosoś does what he can, it's hard to believe that it's his style and the whole Open Blues. But the song is just beautiful.
