Gene Deer - Livin' With The Blues (1998)

                                                                      Gene Deer
In 1998, Indianapolis, Ind. native singer/songwriter/guitarist Deer finished recording "Livin' with the Blues" the follow-up to his debut release, "Soul Tender." His latest effort also marks the first time Deer serves as producer.

Equally at home belting out a tune while strumming an old acoustic "box" guitar or wringing the last drop of emotion from his wailing hollowbody electric, Deer is able to satisfy the tastes of old school blues purists and contemporary enthusiasts alike.

His proficiency with traditional stylings is apparent throughout "Livin' with the Blues," most notably on "Blues in the Afternoon" and "Morristown." Likewise, barnburners such as the title track, "One Foot on the Road" and "Can't Afford to Pay the Rent," showcases Deer's ability to turn up the volume and cut loose.
