The old notion that true blues can only be played by black musicians from the southern states of the USA no longer exists. Many white bands from different parts and corners of the globe know the art of sounding credible in their self-made blues vaults. Even in Sweden there are musicians who manage to convey the emotions that give the blues its distinctive character.
Guitarist Pelle Lindberg played for many years with the Bloosblasters (who also used the name Bluesblasters), who built a large and wide repertoire of songs in Swedish. Or rather, in true Scanian. For highlanders, it can sometimes be a little difficult to understand what the songs are about.
And collaborating with, for example, American blues artists is not so easy when you sing in a language other than English. Whether that was the reason Pelle Lindberg left Bloosblasters, I don't know. But you can always guess.
Anyway, he formed a new band, where vocalist Simon Mårtensson has the right feeling and courage to both sing and play the organ. Stefan Rosqvist on guitar, Alfred Andersson on bass and Walle Wahlgren on drums complete the band, where several of the members also write the songs.
The new album shows that the band is doing well in the world of international blues. It swings wildly, the band has real weight to its action and Lindberg himself is a real talent as both a songwriter and guitarist.
