Alexander Sadykov — 2023 — Every Day I Have the Blues
Again, a completely unknown musician to me about whom I can’t say anything at all, neither who he is nor where he is from. It seems that even the omniscient Google does not know who Alexander Sadykov is.
Nevertheless, he recorded a rather interesting disc. It contains classic blues and rock and rolls. Things like “Hound Dog”, “I’m Ready”, “Let Me Love You Baby”, “I’ll Go Crazy”, and, of course, the title track “Every Day I Have the Blues” are familiar to everyone blues lover, because they were performed many times by a variety of performers.
Alexander Sadykov's performance is quite traditional. And even the guitar sounds nostalgically old-fashioned, quiet and clean. No sound effects, no overlays. Everything is simple and intelligent. Sadykov’s trick is that he constantly shifts the usual rhythm of the sound of certain compositions. The vocals become recitative-like. “Hound Dog,” which in theory should sound energetic and fast, like Elvis, Sadykov drags on slowly, like an old, tired delta bluesman. “Every Day I Have the Blues” almost turns into a drill march. Johnny Winter's vigorous blues "Hard Way" makes Sadykov sound like samba... All compositions, without exception, were subjected to rhythmic processing.
