Tip On In - With Good Times And Tears (2010)

                                                                       Tip On In
The gang is partly from the formidable Bloosers, a formation which had conscientiously massacred a bunch of scenes before splitting. Under the name of TIP ON IN, a title by Slim Harpo which describes the chaotic life of musicians, a way of situating the action, a tribute also to the bluesman, the group had already spread its gall with a demo, history of marking, of its torrid groove, the little world of blues. Four years later, Phil Poitevin (vocals and harmonica), Manu Guillou (guitars), the two inseparable accomplices, plus Jean-Marc Despeignes on bass and Guillaume Kissel on drums, gave birth to a real album whose success stems as much from talent. of its authors than of their passion. We feel that the passion hammered the project, the joys and the pains too, between 'good times and tears', in the middle of a band of friends of which we will notice all the same great sizes such as Sax Beadle Gordon (US ) on saxophones naturally, Phil Dez (Big Dez) with the essential help and a few lines of guitar, Bala Pradal (Big Dez) on the piano or B3 keys, and others still (Marc Shaeller and female voices . A whole team generously committed to the conception of this superb opus. 'With Good Times and Tears', it's a sound, huge! The thing cut out for large groups! We feel that throughout the titles, it is something is happening, like a subtle spirit enveloping the guests of this gargantuan meal with its magic! At home! And it feels good on this record, as at home, that's how it was done, prepared, simmered, tasting the sauce and it just simmers with Blues which swing, of R&B suave which row, of So ul qui capsize, by Funk who groove, a journey of hot and spicy flavors between north and south, east and west of the States, in an energetic momentum and an intoxicating fluid. The musicians seem in total osmosis, carried by rhythms that fit together wonderfully, sliding effectively over the voice of Phil Poitevin, never so warm and powerful. This is an astonishing album because it smells so good of everything that makes the Blues, emotion and passion, in pain and pleasure!
