Little Boogie Boy - In Case You've Got The Blues (2001)

 Musicians come to tour across the pond and are 'accompanied' by local bands in Europe. So stood the 'Little Boogie Boy' with his band at the Rosblues in October 2006 with the guitar legend John Primer, who incidentally gave Hein Meijer the nickname, as well as at
Blues Alive 2007 on stage with former Muddy Waters harper Mojo Buford.
The list of bluesers can be supplemented by singer Tommy McCracken or bassist Nick Holt (including Magic Slim).
At a festival in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the band accompanied Model T-Ford and Sam Carr.
Respect! Once you've seen the band with John Primer and Mojo Buford, one thing is clear: I take my hat off to this group, because it is appreciable how 'Little Boogie Boy' and his combo 'stage' the greats of the blues and not only the:
"In Case You've Got The Blues ..." is a live CD that was recorded at the end of September 2001 in Café Ruimtzicht (Burgerveen) in the Netherlands.
Traditional blues in the finest sound awaits you on the album, which reflects the class these musicians have around the mastermind. In addition, the club atmosphere was captured magnificently: 100% live!
When listening to the Rundling, one is almost inclined to change the nickname (slightly) to 'Big Boogie Boy', because Hein Meijer is a master at his instrument.
His brother Harry on drums and Monique de Jong on bass are in no way inferior to him, as they form a solid foundation for the 10 tracks that this album contains.
The enjoyment of the album is sweetened by Harper Bart Lanstra, who draws attention to himself with soulful soloing in "Backscratcher", written by Frank Frost, also a harmonica player.
Played full of enthusiasm, Junior Wells' groovy "Little By Little" has already developed into a calling card, because the track has become an integral part of the set list.
In the almost seven-minute "Lonesome Feeling", Hein shows that he can also write great songs himself in a classic interpretation of the blues, because the number fits seamlessly into the overall structure and he reaches for the metal tube for the solo.
The hat and its white fender are the outward trademarks of the Dutchman. In addition to his skills on the guitar, he is also 'equipped' with a really good blues voice. You should listen to Howlin 'Wolf's "How Many More Years" on behalf of this.
In the quieter middle section, "Truckload Of Love" is loaded with another great solo by the guitarist.
"Steal Away" is the obligatory slow blues and in the bouncer "My Baby's Coming Home" it goes again - with slide guitar - on the bluestrain at full steam.
Even after the first "In Case You've Got The Blues ..." listening session, you can understand why 'Little Boogie Boy' and the band are so sought-after musicians.
Finally, Magic Slim should be quoted, who commented on the album as follows:
"... once they hear, I believe they'll like it!"
