Kirk Smithhart Band - Open Up (2008)

 Kirk Smithhart is a guitarist/singer/songwriter from Memphis Tennessee. He got his start playing in clubs on Beale Street like Rum Boogie, W.C. Handy's Blues Hall, and B.B. King's Blues Club. Kirk won the Albert King Award in 1998 for best unsigned blues guitarist and placed 3rd overall in the International Blues Talent Competition. He followed this up with the realease of his first CD, So Long. The Better Days and Open Up releases followed and the 4th album is in the works.
In 2008, Kirk Smithhart joined forces with Cody Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars to form Hill Country Revue. This band include Kirk and Cody on guitars, Doc Samba on bass, David Mason on drums, and Daniel Coburn on lead vocals. The first release from HCR, Make A Move, stayed near the top of the blues charts for several months and was picked as one of the top 10 albums of 2009 by the New York Times. The band's sophomore release, Zebra Ranch, came out October 12 2010 and has earned some glowing reviews.

Kirk Smithhart has been the frontman of his own band as well as a sideman in several other acts. He has toured nationally and internationally and shared the stage with some of the best around.
