The fact that Biscuit's blues is so funky is clear because in addition to being an excellent blues singer, he's also a very good bass player and funk is mostly built around that instrument. Due to this combination of both styles, Miller's sound is occasionally reminiscent of Johnny Guitar Watson and Parliament, as well as more traditional blues artists. For example, songs like "Black Eyed Peas And Cornbread" and "Boneheads" are full of P-funk influences in which Biscuit can let his bass explode, while the following "Blow A Kiss" is a smooth, almost sugary blues ballad. .
"Bonehead" even borders on the funky hard rock we know from Mother's Finest, for example, with a nervous bass and squeaky guitars. Spicy detail: on this track we hear guitarists Ronnie Baker Brooks and the lesser known but fantastic Shawn Kellerman working together. Both can still be found on some tracks as guest guitarists.
Biscuit Miller is one of those artists who are constantly rejuvenating the blues, effortlessly refuting the claim that the blues is dying. This is contemporary blues at the forefront.
