 Fred Lincoln "Link" Wray Jr (Dunn, North Carolina, May 2, 1929 - Copenhagen, November 5, 2005) was an American guitarist, songwriter and occasionally vocalist.

Wray became famous for popularizing a new sound for the electric guitar, exemplified in his 1958 instrumental hit "Rumble", a pioneer in the use of a distorted sound on the guitar, and also for "inventing the power chord, the most characteristic modus operandi of the modern guitarist ". He was considered the 45th greatest guitarist of all time by the American magazine Rolling Stone.
