Born in Paris in 1946, Benoît Blue Boy quickly divides his time between studying at Beaux-Arts and his constant companions: the blues and the harmonica.
A composer, he decides to learn his profession on stage and present the blues culture on the other side of the Atlantic. French blues were born. In 1970 he left for Los Angeles, where he stayed for two years. There he will meet Stevie Wonder, Carol King, James Taylor and Albert King. In 1972, he discovered Louisiana Cajun music with Zachary Richard. The two musicians singing in French recognize each other for having influenced each other: Benoît for his blues and Zachary for his Louisiana roots.
The first French Blues album "Benoît Blue Boy" was released in 1979 by Vogue. It is already "Made in Benoît" with texts full of humor and scorn in the Boris Vian style and above all the art and the way of singing the Blues "well from home". A year later, with the same urgent desire, he released his 2 nd album in Vogue “Original”, and, in the process, took over the artistic direction of the first two albums of the group “Backstage”, where Paul personn was already abundant. In 1981, we didn't stop Benoît Blue Boy like that and he released his 45 laps "The blues from the blues seller" (Vogue). Then he worked on the production of Patrick Verbeke's first album. In June 82, it is Olympia and Benoît participates in numerous radio and television programs. His 3 and the album “Plaisir simple” is released by Gaumont. It is also at Gaumont that he collaborates artistically on an album by Jacques Dutronc. It was in 1986 that he released his 4th album at Madrigal "contorcer" - the title predestined the name of his future group "Tortilleurs". The 5th album was released in 1988 with MO "BBB e A Tortilleurs" with François Bodin on guitar and Philippe Floris drums. Little stingy with his art, Benoît travels through France and Europe.
From show to show, he was able to win over an audience of connoisseurs, provoking fervor and enthusiasm with each pass. Your first CD “Parlez-vous français?” leaves in the late 90s. Benoît leaves to play his new repertoire on French and European stages (Italy, Switzerland, Belgium). New reissue of Rose “Tortillage” and “BBB et Les Tortilleurs”, CD version. In July 2000, Benoît recorded in Austin “Benoît Blue Boy in America” with, among others, the West Side Horns, Hector Watt, Uncle John Turner. Several tours with Lazy Lester. "Absence Sickness" in 2004 again with Geraint Watkins. “Funky Aloo” in 2010 with Freddie Roulette.
In 2017, it returned to the 33 rpm format, as À Drink et à manger à Saint-Germain-des-Prés was released only on vinyl and as an mp3 download.
