Dave Chavez Band - Sharp Like a Knife (2013)

                                                              Dave Chavez Band
Dave Chavez is an urban rhythm & blues musician, who lives and plays the blues straight from the heart, and performs pure, raw and soulful rhythm & blues.

Over the last 30 years he proved to be the hottest bluesact from the Netherlands.

The Dave Chavez Band was finalist at ‘the Blues Challange’ (Blues Foundation NL) in 2013, was nominated for the ‘Best Blues Band Award’ in 2015 and for the ‘Best Blues Vocals Award’ 2016.

The opening number of the album is "Dirty C" and this is a shock, just like all the other songs are perfectly fine with the harmonica of "Slim Robin" van Roon. Eric Lipman plays bass and veteran Joost Tazelaar is the company's drummer. Finally lead singer Dave Chavez. He knows how to get good pointed solos from his Fender guitar and, as a singer, is surprisingly good at it. Especially on the two solo songs "Trouble In Mind" and "Ain't No Sunshine", he seems to have a warm voice with a pleasant timbre. Simplicity is the power of these numbers.

The third cover is "Walking To My Baby", written by Kim Wilson, which receives a slow and emotional performance with a great harp by Robin van Roon. The remaining work is in the hand "Sharp Like A Knife" is a captivating rocker. "Boogie Real Low", an exuberant song with a strong Bo Diddley rhythm, "Is everything okay?" on the other hand, it is pleasant, peaceful and relaxed. "Hungry Man" has also been on the demo of the same name since 1999, but it is still like a house in the new version.

We have a hollow crude product, produced at home, recommended for all Westcoast blues lovers with a touch of Texas style.
