This is the new release of the cd by Sean Chambers "Welcome To My Blues", his 7th album, eight original creations and three re-launched foreign compositions by Luther Allison ("Cherry Red Wine"), T-Bone Walker ("All Night Long") and John Ginty ("Boxcar Willie") contains. The latter has a not inconsiderable share in the success of the work, he is involved in matters of keys, partly percussion and drums as well as further songwriting ("Black Eyed Susie" and "Riviera Blue"). Produced by Ben Elliott (including Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Savoy Brown, Rory Gallagher, Mountain).
Jimmy Bennett adds additional accents as a 'special guest' in terms of slide guitar, the rest is provided by the rhythm section consisting of Moe Watson (drums, bgv) and Todd Cook (bass). On the current longplayer, the focus this time is more on the more classic hard blues rock, as icons of earlier times like Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Pat Travers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Leslie West & Co. celebrated.
From the opening title tune to the penultimate track "All Night Long" you will (as already hinted at by the coverfront image) be struck down by the driving sound and the infinitely many lively solos of the protagonist, even with supposedly calmer tracks like "Cherry Red Wine" or "Keep Movin 'On", leaves you the unfurled scattered Fillarbeit, barely time to breathe.
Only at the concluding, discreetly jazzed-out Barroom Blues instrumental "Riviera Blue" is it possible to brush off the sweat from the forehead and, halfway relaxed, fall back into the chair. Those who enjoy engaging in played, energetic electric guitar frills in all variations of the old Blues Rock School (the British 'Guitarist' magazine has, by the way, named Sean One Of The Top 50 Blues Guitarists Of The Last Century) will feel absolutely welcome on Sean Chambers' "Welcome To My Blues".
