Johnny Winter - Nightrider (1974)

                                                              Johnny Winter
In the late 1960s and ‘70s, after Johnny Winter had become a national star, small-time record executives from back in Texas who had recorded him in his youth were able to sell or license their tapes to labels that put out a series of deceptively packaged LPs for unsuspecting fans. One of these was Roy C. Ames, and in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, Ames has found another buyer for his shoddy wares in Relix Records. So, here is another package of Winter-related juvenilia, including a few previously unreleased outtakes. Sometimes, it's not even Winter singing, and most of the time, the material is not characteristic of his blues-rock style. Typically, the packaging does not suggest the source of these recordings.
